Rate your 2011 Racing Season!
Since the 2011 season is over or close to shutting down for some (even my local track shuts down for 6-7 weeks for the "PROS" to rent/test), I and decided to add this topic & poll.
So post up and let us know how ya did! Anything you want to share, from:
a new best
to winning a round or two
winning your first race
slapping a friend around in grudge racing
breaking stuff
....well you get the idea.
I managed another great year, although I didn't race as much as years past, as I'm taking a little more time to spend with wife and 17 month old son.
I did a little more travel racing this year and tried a few new things, including breaking the Formula out for her first racing action in three years
Here are my 2011 race season notes:
-Raced in my first NHRA Lucas Oil Division 2 event in 11.00 index (done off a 5-tenth pro tree); got to the final but red lighted away a possible Wally!
-Ran the Formula in the new NMCA LSX Challenge series Rumble class (index based on a 5-tenths pro tree); made the final where I lost a close one to eventual class champion Rob Farley.
-Traveled to Palm Beach Int'l Raceway for my first Super Chevy Show in a few years. Runner-up in True Street on Saturday, won the D.O.T. class on Sunday.
-Won 3 races at my local track, Gainesville Raceway, and finished less than one round outside the top ten in points despite missing 5 of 14 races.
Okay, I'm done! YOUR TURN! Let's hear it, and don't hold back!
Derek

While I didn't do as well out at the LSx Shootout as I had the year before, I still had an AWESOME time and it was good hangin'/talkin' with ya briefly out there Derek.

I had a pretty good year! My car was very consistent. No real issues mechanically. I had a lot of fun this season. I'll be making a few changes to see if I can improve on my 60' and ET.

Well I got married and bought a house during the summer so there wasn't much time to race. First time in a few years that I didn't win an event. I got down to 5 cars at the LSX Shootout, then broke out by .003 with a chance at the bye into the final the next round.

.
Better then nothing.
Actually got to go waste fuel, nitrous & diesel more then I have in years.
While I didn't get to race, like I planned, at least I got out and got some hits in.
Now if people would start paying their damn bills, maybe I could get my new engine together???

I just started racing last year so this only being my 2nd year. So pretty much anything I did would be a plus lol
I installed the ss3600 in march and last time up I did a couple 11.9s. I wanted to get 11s with stock internal so I reached that goal.
I had a best of 12.6 with stock stall last year so dropping .7 and gaining 3mph in my 2nd year from a stall was very exciting.

Purchased car in May, ran mid 14's w/ almost full bolt-ons and finally tracked the issue down to a horrible A/F ratio, with no other changes except for the tune and 555R's the car ran the times in sig ..rough start but I can't complain! Should've hit 11's but the track closed early.

I'd have to say I'm pretty happy with with the 20 passes I've made with my car. After totaling my SS in Germany and then finding my Trans Am as a replacement while in Germany is pretty cool. I was able to ship the car and get it back to the US in June and ran some pretty bad times. But after getting it running right and shedding some weight, I've manged to get it in the low 12s so far.

Between a newborn and a new job only made it to the track once this year. But was happy to get my stock internal car to click off an 11.99 which was my goal. Ran consistant all day, now need to find some time and a 12.0 class to run in next year.

My year was so-so. I registered for a national event so that I would be commited to building a new motor. I built the new motor but went WAYYYYYYYY over budget and WAYYYYYYYYY over my timeline for the event (isn't that how it usually goes? lol). No time to test and it still has some bugs to work out, but I showed up and met a TON OF COOL PEOPLE and that was the best part! Set some new pb's with it, but I was expecting it to be faster initially than what it ran. Oh well, i've got all winter to pick a new engine management system.
For those guys out there that haven't raced at a national event such as an LSx Shootout or LS Fest, sign up and commit yourself to doing so. Treat it as a mini vacation, bring some beer and your camera and have some fun! Even if your car isn't competitive you will still have a blast. For me racing at the LTX Shootout was easily the best drag racing experience i've ever done. I got to put some faces to the s/n's on here and met some great friends!
Oh, and the car didn't break!

Car was deadly consistent! Driver on the other hand was inconsistent with reactions! Lost clutch pack once in tranny! Decided to stick with torque management car slowed couple tenths but it's bracket racing so was still running any class I wanted to and some days multiple classes! Sold setup and going turbo so can go faster! Kids start racing their juniors next year so just going turbo to go play on Friday nights and let kids bracket race on Saturdays! Hurry up 2012 the kids are driving me crazy for the season to start! Oh car ran best of 11.23 at 120 not bad for H/C/I stock bottom end 6.0 in 3200ft DA!
