Default Ran LT1 at 1/8th, possible freak? :-)

Went back to my local 1/8th mile tonight and pulled a best of 8.86 @ 81.66 on 2.08 60ft! Thats a bone stock 97 TA 6spd with WS6 airbox and a lil over half a tank of gas! I'd have to say it definately has a 8.7 in it. Also i'm rolling on oem C6 chrome 5 stars 18f 19r. Kind of wonder if it wouldn't do a bit better with some oem 16's or 17's.

I'm just extremely excited! Definately made me feel better about modding the underpowered LT1. Don't know if she's a factory freak or if i'm just driving the **** out of it. My 60ft could definately get better. With some seat time i should be able to cut it down to a 1.9. Hello 8.7's :-)

damn that's quicker than my 00 a4 z28 was in stock trim. nice going. i'd guess it's a mix of your driving and the car's capability.

thanks man. I know i'm shifting the crap out of it but my 60 could definately use some improvement. I never would have imagined a stock lt1 would be so hard to get off the line. Especially with a set of 285 potenza's on the back and slipping the clutch. lol Need some more seat time for sure.

Nice work! LT1s are strong cars down low. Definitely worth modding!

Bone stock (other than a filter and premium synthetic fluids) high 8's is moving for an LT1. I'm not sure what Boosted Firehawk means by "... can do way better", but I'm willing to bet a low 1.9 60' will be the best you can manage on street tires and that's probably an 8.6 pass at best.

Great time! It's definitely moving for what it is!

How many miles does it have? Anything that's not stock?

I trapped 81.95 1/8 with a 2.409 60ft short shifting and spinning all the way through first. Also had just over 1/2 a tank. Was my first time ever taking this car to the track. Got some new street tires, set a SD OL tune. Need to get to the track again.

Since that time, I've removed ~70lbs from the car.

So I would say for yours being completely stock shes moving.

That's moving pretty good but I'd be willing to bet with that mph you can run a low 8.6. I ran 9.1@77(2.08 60ft) with an auto spinning and pedalling out of first. I would hope an m6 is at least 4 tenths quicker.

Time to take it to the 1/4 mile and get some real numbers.

You should get it dynoed.

Thanks man! Yeah i thought it was pretty maxed out besides as you said the 60ft pulling a possible 1.9. Its got 107k miles and has a ws6 hood and ram air box. Also has a set of chrome C6 5 starts 18 front, 19 rear. Oh also has a 12" sub/amp. Probably only 35lbs. Spare tire is missing though. Thats the only stuff modified from stock. Still has all the egr/air pump and all that garbage. Can't wait to delete all that when i do some longtubes.

so tempting, trust me its been crossing my mind. I mean i want to do my bolt ons, cam, and a tune 1st but was heavily considering a 100 shot.

yeah i'd say its def possible. I'm gonna have to hit that sweet spot on the launch though. lol I'll make 8.7 the goal for now with secret hopes of an 8.6 Haha

Oh trust me man, i'd love to have a 1/4 close by. Nearest one to me is Clay City, KY. About 2.5 hours. I planned on going next month for the KYHP shootout but i may just go down on an upcoming friday for t&t. I'd love to pull a 13.6 with it how it sets. As far as dyno there no local dyno jet i trust besides Phil at BlueCat in Ashland and he stays pretty busy of course being practically the best tuner on the east coast. Haha. I'll definately be taking my car to him for the tune after bolt ons and cam atleast.

There's a portable land/sea dyno here in Charleston but those things are garbage. They tend to have pretty inflated numbers. Maybe i'll give Phil a call anyways and see if i can squeeze in a couple of quick runs.

Spare tire and jack, everything of the AC except the Compressor, need to pick up the delete pulley, AIR pump, EGR (weighs maybe 1 pound with everything gone) ABS is gone.

Everything besides the ABS weighed 58lbs. The ABS unit weighs around 12. So I figured in the neighborhood of 70. Plus the AC compressor is roughly another 15 so I need to get that out shortly.

Thats pretty good. When my 30th was stock, I ran an 8.755 @ 80mph. Like a 1.99 60'. It was auto also.
