Default What am I doing wrong here?! so close to 11's...

Seem to be hovering right at a 12.1@118-120. The mph is definitely there.
Just got AI ported 5.3 heads, rowdier cam , 1 7/8 LT's, true duals and Monster stage 2 clutch installed. Feels faster than before..

This was my last pass of the day and new PB in the 1/8. I launched at about 4k and kept on the throttle through 1st despite how hard I was spinning. Before then I was feathering it until I felt it grip.

I am using bald nitto 555r's 245/16/50 at about 20 psi. Sometimes the car almost gets sideways if I hit 2nd too aggressively. I am gonna need some real tires especially if I plan on using the nitrous kit in my closet right now.

About a year ago I ran a 12.1@120 with my old H/C set up (228/232 cam, AI ported 241's, pacesetter LT's, Magnaflow CB, stock clutch, etc)

Maybe with some mickey thompson's I can launch the **** out of it and run mid 11's.

Had a blast at the track regardless of not hitting my goal. There were barely any cars there and I could run as much as I wanted. A true test and tune!

It's all in your 60'. Some new mickeys on and you'll have your 11 second pass first trip. Careful with that 10 bolt though. Good luck. -Josh

Some chick in a V6 mustang. funny I remember that from over a year later

I have a strange 12 bolt with 4.10 gears.
It seems the 60 foot isn't making much of a difference if right afterwards I am spinning like crazy.

Your bald 555R's are the main problem for both the 60ft, and spinning afterwards

You definitely need better traction. We pretty much make the same power to the wheels...my times are in my sig.

Damn man, you're slip has a lot of similarities to what my car does, only you have more trap...Stop leaving at 4k RPMs. You don't need to leave anywhere near that high. I leave off idle and roll into it quickly. 1.6 60s on the same 555Rs you have, 11.6 at 118.5, 116 before tuning the stall to lock up top. There's some sub 11.5s in that car, but you are going to have to back off the launch. Your car makes enough TQ down low to get it done without reving that high on launch.

I don't think so, he has an M6 not an A4. Leaving off idle would yield a worse 60'.

OP, like everyone else said, it's in the 60'. You need a fresh set of real drag radials. Start the pressure at 18psi and go from there, do a nice solid burnout and slip the clutch quickly on the launch. Car is capable of 1.6 60's for sure, even high 1.5's if you launch really well. With that and faster shifting because you won't be spinning between shifts. I see that car at 11.5 easy, maybe lower if you drive the hell out of it.

What so you have for suspension?

Put whatever tire you want on these rims sir they are wore out.

Yore a stick car with a built rear.. Put a slick on an extra set of rims and be done with it.

Hey man I appreciate the input but racing a stalled auto and a 6 speed manual are two different things.

Thank you.
Drag racing a H/C 6 speed can be tricky. I don't think alot of these slushbox guys understand that.

I'm lowered and have bilsteins. Adjustable torque arm, subframe connectors.

You guys honestly think this can has an 11.5 in it?

What's the best tire I can fit on the stock 16's?

Yea.

If you're lowered, you definitely need LCA's and relocation brackets. That will help your traction a lot.

As far as the tires go, I can't answer that one for you lol.

Maybe with some mickey's you could run very low 11's.
