What's going on with my 60'?
I took my car to the track after rebuilding it a couple months ago and made a couple passes and ran 1.53-1.56 60'. Then I went out last night and ran consistent 1.65-1.68. I have a 427, 4.10 gears, 28" slicks, TH400 w/ 4000 stall (but it's VERY loose; flashing at about 5000+) I did make some changes between the 2 outings but I don't think I should have slowed down. Changes made were:
Added chromoly roll cage
BMR K-Member
Removed front and rear bumper supports
Removed a/c
Removed factory driver seat and added a race seat
And adjusted the pinion angle. For the faster passes it was at +2. I adjusted it to -2. Traction felt fine, it just wouldn't get out of the hole.
I don't know what my race weights were, but I think I should have a been about the same or maybe a little lighter after the weight removals I made. It dynoed 501 rwhp STD so I think the power is there. The weather was definitely hotter this time out, but I don't think the 60' should drop by a .1+ I'm just kindof at a loss here. Thanks.

I have been wondering if something similar happen to my car as well. It seems even though you are dead hooking at +2 and -2 the tires dont get hit as hard. Look at this thread, sounds like similar problem here.

Thanks. I overheard someone last night talking about how high my car sat in the rear. To me it just seemed normal, but does this seem high? I have factory shocks and springs in the rear with a drag bar, spohn torque arm, and QA1 front shocks set to the lightest setting. I read in that thread about moving the torque arm location, but mine doesn't have any other holes to move it to, unless I'm missing something. I will admit that I'm not much of a suspension guru.

Cant let one outing discourage you, how was the track prep? anyone else having similar issues (60')that same night/track? maybe play with the front shocks a little, i found my car likes the 2nd click from 0 (QA1), are the rear tires running out of life?..just my .02

Track prep was good. Had 6 second cars running all night. Tires were brand new. This was the first night down the track with them. I will say that the shock setting was different. The last time I had them set on 2 as well, and set them at 1 this time. I just wouldn't expect that much of a difference.
