Default 2nd time out and she broke

2nd time out since purchase of the car. 2001 z28 full exhaust only. First pass ran a 13.04 @107. Second pass had to be pushed off after burnout. Towed home. Looks like a bent push rod. Replacing lifters and push rods and hopefully will be back for next race.

so the car is exhaust only no engine mods whatsoever and it took out a pushrod during the burnout ??? that is very odd gotta be some unusual root cause for that....

Yeah was weird to me as well. Bought the car with only 47000 miles. This was the third pass I've made on the car. They are starting to tear it down tomorrow. He says he thinks it's a bent push rod from hearing it but could be lifter or broken valve spring as well. Very loud knocking coming from the top end.

Dang that sucks. Hope it gets fixed inexpensively. Since it's being torn down, you might as well add a cam.

Hopefully you didn't bend the pushrod from the piston smacking the valve by over-reving it during the burnout, very easy to do with no load on the engine.

It spun a main bearing, going with a new short block from livernois. Got a quote to rebuild my block for 3500 and the 408 at livernois is $3800 so I'm just going to build new.

Be prepared for having a lot more powerful engine.

Yeah that's why I just put it up for the rest of the year. Saving for th400 and more suspension parts.
