Stock LS1 drag car looking for advise on combo for this year
#3
Stock long block. I pulled it from my wife's 2000 Z28, put a new set of valve springs in it (insurance), dropped it in the hole and added fuel. The car was already a drag car with a 406 SBC. It is open chepo depot headers, 4k stall, TH350,4.56 gear 9" Moser. I plan to drop the front W/ moroso trick springs, add a cold air, and see what that does. After that I am going to change to an LS6 intake and see what it picks up. I also have a 224/224 cam laying around I will eventually throw at it. For now it is fun to leave on the back tires with a 310 HP hoopty.

I added some Moroso Trick springs and lowered the car some. Now it doesn't look like a stadium truck and it picked up some E.T. some short times.
Thanks for the kind comments. I am debating on plan for next year. I may just add a stock 01' intake and see how fast I can go.

This thread is the back story and time slips from last year. I am going to try and run some 7.0 index events this year and I am wondering if you folks think I can get there with a LS6 intake, TR 224/224 or if I need some P&P 243's, big cam, and LS6 intake? A half a second is a lot to pick up but I am optimistic about the 224/224, LS6 combo. What do you folks think? In stock form the motor makes 310 RWHP.

I have a Fast 102 as well but I also have to keep in mind that I have several thousand dollars worth of race motor setting on an engine stand. I have been in the process of building a new house and shop for the past couple of years which is the main reason for a stock motor even still being in the car. It would be cool to get to 7.0's with this motor but I will play it by ear.

I've still been busier than hell but we managed to get the car out after an LS1/LS6 intake swap. WOW! I plan to get the headers swappedal to the 2" and get back. Maybe even if I can pry the time. I will go from the LS6 to a FAST 102 just for proof one way or the other about it being too big for a stock long block.
