Default Fontana Drag Results

Hello,

I ran my 2002 z28 at the street legal drags event in the 90-100 degree heat and it ran 13.40 at 104 with a 1.95 60 foot (DA:3500ft). Was kind of dissapointed since it has a 218/218 .555 cam, milled and ported 241 heads, stock ls6 intake, 6 speed 4.10 gears, 9" rear and et streets. Is this time normal for this kind of setup? I thought I would easily break into the 12's. Launched kind of easy because it still has the stock driveshaft, but the trap speed concerns me

Longtube headers would help.

I wouldn't worry too much, that DA sucks. My car went from 12.21 @ 112 w/ a 700ft da to a 12.58 @ 109 with a 2700ft DA. Lost an average of .4 because of the heat and air.

I will say a 104 trap speed seems way off. Should be closer to 108 I would think even with the bad air.

I wouldn't feel bad. My best there was a 12.8 @ 113, but that was when it was cooler. My last time there was a 13.3 @ 110. The heat, and subsequently running uphill, don't help. If you look at the starting line you'll see the track goes uphill

Thanks Denom, didn't realize the track was uphill. Ill go back in the fall with better tires and launch it hard, hopefully it will break 12's

Post up your slip. Have you dyno'd your car?

Fontana sucks but they're something going on there. Bolt-on cars trap higher there.

I think that depends on the DA. I've seen new 5.0's trap at 106-107 mph, and he's spotting them a lot of hp. With the mods he has listed he's looking at 340whp. If he had longtubes he'd have quite a bit more. In November through January he will gain a good 3mph in trap speed. Also he's not turbo like your 5.3
