ATI Racing COPO goes 7.92 with new combo
ATI Racing's COPO Camaro goes 7.92 on third full pass with new NMCA Real Street engine combo.
From NMCA
JC Beattie Jr. of ATI Performance Products converted his NHRA Super Stock COPO Camaro to Holley EFI Real Street trim, which is a Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series category. First order of business was a new LS-based engine for Real Street competition, one that was a bit more open than what he normally runs in NHRA competition. Precision Racing Technologies constructed a 388ci engine with ported LS3 heads and custom camshaft to help ingest boost via a Whipple high-helix style supercharger. The team eased into the new combination with an 8.23 in the first round of qualifying, then he made some tuning adjustments to the AEM Infinity stand-alone EFI and ran a quicker 8.07 at 172 mph. Last night, some more laptop massaging resulted in a 7.92 at 173 mph, putting him fourth on the ladder.
