Default Post up fastest 17,18,19,20" inch wheel drag radial passes.

Been trying to figure out how fast people have been on a really really small tire.

Was considering coming up with a class my local track could run. Would be nice to have a good street car class with everbody on a really small tire to limit et's. Having 1 minimum weight and letting everyone run what they brung on power combo's. Basically letting the tire be the equalizer.

I was looking at running a wide variety of different sizes but limiting sidewall height to help slow everyone down. Or just running one size period, like the 275/40r17.

No doubt someone can probably come out there and run a crazy fast number on that tire but thats why im asking how fast everyone has been.

Other rules ive been thinking of would be a 20 to 30 mile cruise,
17x7 or larger wheels up front,
no drag brakes,
between a 3200 to 3500 minimum weight,
two front seats-can be drag seats and rear seats can be removed,
full interior as in carpet, dash, door panels, ect.
must have working alternator-power steering can be removed and so can a/c
no c02 with boost controller Maybe no boost controller at all, and maybe no progressive nitrous controllers.
forgot to mention i think 1/8th mile would be best so high powered cars could not pass u on the big end

Also post up info if another track has or is doing this now.
Post up guys, need your help with info.

Thanks

16's have alot of sidewall, i want to keep all the bigger tires out of the class. The idea is to keep the class in the 6's and slower in the 1/8th mile. The smaller the tire the harder it will be to put any power down.

The big deal with small tire cars is all suspension. Spend money on great shocks. Always run a double adjustable rear shock is one of the main keys. A short torque is nice too like one from Midwest chassis.

Exactly comes down to suspension and such to get down the track.

Not talking about on a 15 inch wheel, 17 inch wheel to 20 inch wheel
X235 tire is a lot bigger tire than I would wanna run, I'm talking about a 26 inch tall tire max on a 17 inch wheel. The idea is to keep high powered cars limited on putting power down as far down the track as possible. If I could do it, I would get everyone to run something even smaller height and width wise on a 17 inch or 18 inch wheel than the 275/40r17

After seeing mighty mouse run low 9's on a 17 inch 315 and a turbo coyote run low 9's on 20 inch drag radials, I'm a little discouraged. Maybe a class on 200 tread wear and higher with short sidewalls plus being on a 17 inch or larger wheel. Not sure how the people running the track would like all them street tires eating it up. No awd vehicles also.

Yeah that's the vid I watched, I had forgotten you ran on 17's for a while. I've always wondered what the fastest pass is on a 17 inch and taller rim. Have not found a list yet or a class that has to run them

Not a drag radial but I've gone 11.89 @ 115 on 17" Continental DW's with a 1.67 60 ft with mods in signature in 1500ft DA air.

After I realized how fast everybody could go on that small of a tire I decided it was a wasted effort. Can't really even out a field on a small tire for the slower cars. Even cars on a very normal street tire can be pretty fast. I would still like to see a class out there running 17 or 18 inch wheels and drag radials for an even smaller tire class than x235. Would be really neat to watch.

These guys on 235s are basically proving tires arent the limitation. You have to limit something else.
