My start to drag racing
Well this event was just for fun. Jan 1 2017 was hangover fest at my local drag strip, it was cold and there was no track prep or water box. It's just a way to break up the winter here in Illinois. My car is a 99 SS 383 with m6 bolt ons, ported polished stock heads and small cam, stock intake for now and 285 Goodyear eagle f1's out back. My best pass ended up being a 14.7 @ 106. Your probably laughing. Couldn't get traction even in 3rd. Anyway I'll be racing all year and will be updating this with my progress. Tips and tricks are appriciated, try not to be to a dick as I am learning.

Sounds like you need some seat time and a good set of tires. Bias ply tires help take the shock off of the 10 bolt. I would recommend some drag wheels. I refused to run my 2013 Mustang on all season street tires ever again after I did a few times in late 2015. It's amazing how much safer and less sketchy the car feels with a proper tire out back.

I definitely need more seat time and I can't wait to get back out on the track. As for gears when I get a new rear which will most likely be a s60 I'm going to run 4:10's. As much as I'd like to add more power it's not going to do me any good so after I get the rear end, panhard, lca's w/ relocation mounts and torque arm next will be wheels and tires. And then as much seat time as I can get

I just didn't want 90 people telling me driver mod. Lol I already know I need seat time. Wasn't trying to be one. The racing community tends to be very helpful but the forum community generally speaking(not implying this forum) tends to be a little rough on new people with questions. Guess I should have said "don't be to harsh" instead.
As far as ws6store I was really looking forward to going over there today since I'm in town but I think I may have a few problems with the car going on. good old 10 bolt lol

I got another package from them today. When you look at upgrading the rear, I strongly recommend calling quick performance. They will build you a 9" rear end with Strange Axles if you request. I have a thread in here about Moser's axle register short comings. 26" tire works good on my cars. Also, for drag racing, an MSD 2 step or similar makes launching a lot more fun.

2 steps do look fun but I've got to learn the basics first. Maybe next year when I'll be looking into a power adder a 2 step will come with it. This years goal is all seat time then next year it's go fast enough to require a cage and some day a chute lol
