How fast on the stock exhaust?
I'm curious to see how far I can push my car with the stock exhaust, manifolds, cats, NO CUTOUT, and stock z28 (non SS) exhaust. What have other people run with it?
So far I have run 13.3 @ 105 with FTRA, Lid, 2.73 gears, stock torque converter.
I have the parts and we'll be putting in shortly: a B1 cam, 3.42 gears, TCI 3000 converter, 160T stat, and asp pulley. What do you think it will run?
My dream would be to run 11's but I doubt it.

With a tune it should go Mid 12s.
I have gone 13.3@108 throught stock exhaust and tires (GSCs) in like 85+ degs. and 70%+ humidity. So theres more left in it. I met a guy with an 02z A4 that only had a lid, free mods and MAf that ran 12.90s through stock exhaust and tires. He said it was like 48 degs outside though.

i've never understood why people choose to limit themselves by random arbitrary factory parts. Not flaming or hating, just curious as to your rationality. And i'd say 11's would be a huge feat w/ that kind of restriction.

I think you're right 11's won't be achievable but I want to see how fast it will go. I should have the rest of the parts for the cam swap by next week. Hopefully I can do the rear end & converter this weekend and cam / pulley next week end and then tune it. My local track closes end of October so hopefully I can get some runs in with really good air.

I think it is different strokes for different folks, I like to see a stock looking car that will run in the low 12s or high 11s and believe it is quite challenging to do that with a stock cubic inch car with manifolds. Then imagine the same car with a hidden wet nos and it really gets interesting. I also llike to get a 3 second spot and break the faster car out on the big end, it really ticks those dragster guys off to get beat by a lot slower car. Its all in what trips your trigger and thank god the same thing does'nt do it for us all.
My friends formula with corsa cat back and stock manifolds and cats went 7.75 at 88 mph last night. If you look at the car it looks like it has a lid and a catback. It's still on stock wheels. Its a sleeper and that is how he likes it and so do I.

Well my car looks and sounds stock (until I uncork it) and runs mid 12s. I am going for 11s on the stock manifolds, cats and y.
I would love to see a bone stock looking car I mean lid and all with a sleeper cam, ported stock heads with upgraded valvetrain, hide a dry shot in the intake silencer and bottle in the spare tire well or better yet a couple smaller bottles where the pass. air bag goes with a stall. I am sure they are out there, they just are quiet about it. If you are good with a welder you can streangthen the control arms and torque arms and they make poly bushings for the stock parts. The stock cat-back is very restrictive though so I would put on an SLP SS or WS6 system with stock tips. That system looks just like a Z or T/A system. Also would have to gut the cats.

I ran high 11's with my cut-out closed on a stock non-ws6 exhaust in my 98' T/A.Best with it open was an 11.57@117.
That's with stock 98' manifolds and an LS1 intake.
150 shot
TCI3500
Lid
BFG 255/16 Dr's
