Short Shiftin 200rpms...Noticeable effect?
well last fall when i ran at the track for the first time, i pulled a 13.4 @ 105 on a 2.17 60ft. My car has always showed that it idles at 1000 rpm until the other day i read that some of the tachs are off by a couple hundred rpms in the 98 camaro's?! I just recently tried shifting above 6000rpms to see if it would hit the limiter and sure enough it didn't hit the limiter till around 6150 or 6200. Could this wield me some gains at the track now that i know i can take the rpms up higher?

When racing my father's stock (except for lid) 1998 m6 z28 we found the higher shift rpms netted higher mph. He and I were racing the car back to back and discovered he was running .5 more mph simply because of about a 200 rpm shift difference.
I started shifting higher and was running the same mph as he was.
With all this the ET was about the same.
It cant hurt to shift higher on a stock car.

stock rev limiter is at 6200. when stock, i was shifting it at 6000 with the best results, its hard to shift higher since the stock tach isnt the most accurate, and i was afraid of hitting the rev limiter.
