Default Anyone NOT liking the MT Drag Radial?

I'm kinda on the fence about these...
I can't seem to cut a good light or get consistent 60' times like I did when I was running my BFG's..

My lights were always somewhat poor/inconsistent, but ever since I've been using these, my R/T's are worse than EVER in the 3 yrs I've been racing..

I'm gonna go back & try BFG's & see if R/T's get better & 60' get more consistent..

Anyone else on board with this impression, or am I the only one?

Care to explain how the tires are effecting your r/t's?

he might mean his 60 foots, lol. Are you heating them up at all? This is the first post I've seen with someone dissatisfied with them. Are they the same size as the BFG's?

R/t's have nothing to do with your tire.

It reads like he's blaming bad lights on his tires....

tires don't effect your reaction time bud.

that what i was thinkin too, you only have to move like a couple inches to get a r/t so i think its 100% driver error not a tire problem. as for 60's, they are the best hooking tire ive ever used short of a slick. so if you are heating them up and not getting good 60's you need to examine you launching technique and/or setup.

All right men.. I hear ya..
I'm gonna try... Just wierd that after a couple yrs, all of a sudden my R/T's are falling apart...I'll try bumpin in a little & maybe leaving when the 2nd yellow goes out instead of when the 3rd yellow lights..
We'll see.. Any other tip appreciated..

And yes, I am heating them up..
I've tried mild to wild burnouts, but will keep trying to find the sweet spot..

what air pressure r u running n them.
we cut consistent 1.82 with 20PSI(more than weve ever ran n a slick) and it did this all day. But as for reaction thats all driver ability.

If it doesn't work out you could just sell the tires. What size are they?

im pretty sure i get out the hole good bit quicker than you and i leave at the end of the 2nd light cutting .020 .010 .004 and such lights so if you leaving on the 3rd bulb i can see why your r/t's are sucking

Take more Centrum Silver or Geritol, heard it helps when you get older...ask PSJ Jokes aside, I normally leave second light, maybe the tires are effecting you, like psyching you out and your not relaxed at the light enough. Good luck.

Maybe El is psyched by his tires but you all can't really believe tires do not affect RT?

Make a pass with your MT's and then launch on street tires the same way as your MT's and tell me if your RT is the same

Different tires and air pressure will definately effect reaction times. Front and back tires.

Nothing but good things to say about them. We've cut a 1.27 best and generally hit bottom .30's on 275's.

Went back to the BFG's..
All .0xx lights..
Ran them at my usual 17-18 psi..

I was running the MT's @ 14 psi..

Do you think if I give the MT's another shot, I should bump up the psi??

MT said 12-16 psi.. emphatically!

I love them:

I am like the other guys, I see no way the tires can hurt your R/T.

I try to leave just as the 2nd light goes out, I get some good lights with that.
