Talking SAM SS goes 9.17 @ 154 - on MOTOR!

Congrats to the crew at School of Automotive Machinists. Last week they took the hugger orange SS down to a 9.17 @ 154 on motor alone!

And, the best part is that it was done without C5R parts! Yep, this LS6 based engine was still using factory 243 casting LS6 heads. Amazing!

At the Year One event this past weekend, they went 9.3 @ 146 with an easy launch, running approx 3280 lbs raceweight.

Anyone from SAM, please confirm the numbers for me, thanks!

Good job Judson and the SAM crew!

Tony

Do you mean 146 or 154? I see above it says 154 and below it says 146 with an easy launch. I know a better launch can help mph , just surprised at a 10 mph jump on a NA car.

I was told it went 154 earlier in the week. At the Atlanta event, Judson had to pedal it quite a bit to maintain traction, and we had a 20 mph head wind. So, it went 146 in Atlanta

Very amazing. I wonder what it would do with some weight reduction.

That car is crazy, I got vid of it going down the track, it pulled so hard. He would tap the rev limiter in first and fight and peddle it down the track. Its really clean too! I think he blew it up on his last pass though.

It was 9.17 @ 154 in Houston on Wednesday testing for the commerce race (DA was around 1600 or so for that pass if I remember correctly).

Motor is just your average sleeved 427, with some pretty decent heads on it
Oh and a $hit load of RPM

Not bad for a 3200 lb car.

Hey Joe Overton, the SAM crew pulled a trailer for 15 hours to come whip up on ya, how come you didn't show up? Not bad for factory LS6 heads eh?

Tony Preach on ... If you recall I had to totally revamp a combo i had in progress due to rule clarification b/s ... ... and how soon people forget they had thier shot in la. and I pulled 23 hours so bite me...

Besides that, congrats to S.a.m.s as I said already once before I expected it and as tony said not bad with 427ci. and a 15* head, and a jerico, and a sheetmetal intake..wait sec let me stop rambling ..I'll have to hit our HRP equivalent track up here when mine is up and running...

True Joe, I know that you told everyone the LS1 engines should whip you no problem if built correctly. Guess that time has come, probably earlier than you expected it.

Afterall, this SAM engine still uses FACTORY heads, unlike your engine
