Default Time to throw rocks at the M/T drag radials

alright, a while back I was on here praising the new Drag radials. I find that when I first get to the track , they will hook good for 1 to 2 passes.
Well tonight was no exception, I started out with a 1.73 which was not bad but I left out soft. I got a little more aggressive after that and they would not hook for ****

For comparison sake, I switched the 255x50x16 Drag radials out for a set of 26x11.5x16 ET streets and the car went to 1.68 60 ft leaving at 5800 and the car went from an average of 11.9's to 11.69 and a 11.71 and the mph went up from 116.8 to 117.78 mph just from being able to come out hard.
I had a freind there that used my Et drag radials after making a pass on his new 26x8.5x15 drag slicks and liked the drag radials better so me and him are going to swap out and I will just run a slick. I am tired of my car just being inconsistent. I find guys around here do great with automatic trans with the Drag radials but I can not hook on them. I am more consistent on My 315x35x17 Nittos. \

How were you launching on the slicks, 5800 and dump or did you have to ride it a little?

Is this always at the same track? Perhaps the track is going away, but the ET Streets aren't affected as much.??? Just a thought?

Telly, I pull 1.6's on Nittos and you gonna tell me I need to practice leaving

I tried leaving the same as I do on nittos and the same as I do on et streets. The track was hooking good too,They prepped it for stan Allan a couple of times.

This is a problem at Gulfport and No problem raceway. I may be doing to much of a burn out because on the street it leaves hard dumping at 4000 rpms with no burnout

on a side note, I let Dj put them on his th350 car putting out 385 on Allans Dyno try them and they are awsome for an automatic car. He only has a 3000 stall and 3.23 gears and ran 1.70's every pass on them.,

Boy this sounds familiar. I bought a set of 275/60/15 MT drag radials. At the track I set them at 18psi on the first run. Did long burnout to get the new tires scuffed up. Stalled to 2800 and spun badly off the line. Ran 6 times adjusted the pressure each time. Even at 15 psi and doing a long burnout and roasting them to the line it still would not stick. And this is in a 96 Impala SS @ 4400 lbs. Ran a best of 12.94@105 with a 1.77 60ft. I am going to try 12 psi next time at the track but as for now I not happy with the MT drag radials

I run them at 19 psi on the street and they are awsome. At the track , I tried from 16.5 down to 14.5 and they did not work.

I cut a best of 1.57 and several 1.60's with MT DR's and stock 3.23's.

I have the 255/50/16 M/T on my car. They hook everytime for me. I run 22psi in mine on the street and at the track. The car pulls 1.66 60' times, I had one 1.64 60'. The car is real consistent at the track. I stall it to 3000 and smash it. I don't do a real big burnout with mine.

I have a number of runs where the MT dragradials spun badly off the line. That was after doing a 7-9 sec smokey burnout. I had some local racers tell me not to do such a long burnout with the MTs so I tried a 4-5 sec one, I have had very good results since doing shorter burnouts.
P.S.be very careful driving in the rain w/MT dragradials, they suck in the rain.

I will try the shorter burnout next time. ALthough , I raced a guy in a modded SS comaro last night and was going great untill it would not go into 4th. I ended the race and pulled to the sholder to find it would only go into gear if I shut the engine off and cranked it in second while it was trying to pull as I was cranking on it. I drove home in second as it will not go into any gear unless I shut the engine off.
The clutch feels fine so I think it is teh master not pushing it all teh way or the slave cyl.

What do you guys think? I will try to readjust the McCloud Master tonight when I get Home to see what it does.

I know, just messing with you!You need to get rid of those and go back to a et street or full slick! But like someone else said these tires i believe work best with auto cars!

i ran 11.74@114, with a 1.59 60ft on a set of 275/50/15 with stock internals, stock suspension, and a 2.73 gear. i now have a 4.10, so i am gonna switch to a full hoosier slick. the only problem i had with them was that i could not stall the car any higher than 2000 on my 4000 converter, otherwise they would spin on a well prepped track.
