Race Results weekend #3: 1/8 mile and not too shabby!
Well, after stinking up the 1st 2 weekends I decided to try my hand 1/8 mile for the first time this year since I will miss racing the next 2 weekends due to family stuff. I was hoping to find the tree again, but after 2 .065 bulbs in time runs I wasn't too optimistic for 1st round.
Round 1 - paired up with a 6.40 dialed Fiero to my 7.25 dial. My .029 light to his .144, hit the brakes to go 7.295 to his 6.434.
Round 2 - paired up with a 7.19 dialed blue fox-body Mustang to my 7.26 dial. My .023 light to his .166, hit the brakes again to go 7.292 to his 7.202.
Round 3 - paired up with a 9.86 dialed 83 Cutlass to my 7.24 dial. My .050 light to his .118, caught in the lights and scrubbed the brakes to go 7.284 to his 9.855 (.019 stripe).
Round 4 - paired up with a 7.07 dialed 68 Camaro (good bud of mine and a tough footbraker) to my 7.25 dial. My .010 light to his .034, we're neck and neck at the mph cone and I kept hammer down to get the stripe by .004 and go 7.237 to his 7.037.
Round 5 - paired up with a 6.95 dialed Cuda to my 7.23 dial. My .040 light to his .234, braked hard to go 7.264 to his 6.958.
Round 6 was a bye-run, just lit the bulbs and backed out to save the heat and beating on the car.
Round 7 (final in footbrake) - paired up with a 6.67 dialed Duster (former Jr. dragster racer and a good runner for being 18) to my 7.22 dial. My .046 light to his .057, he passes me and rips the gas once and I dumped the brakes to let him have the stripe. He breaks out going 6.662 and I stayed safe at 7.251.
Now we combine footbrake winner and electronics winner for a grand in purse. I get a bad-*** dragster dialed 4.61 to my 7.23. I cut a .023 bulb to his .028 light, and I knew she was on a good pass when the front end came up high (1.537 60 foot off the footbrake, best ever). I turned at the cone and thought I had a tiny bit of room and hit the binders to take .015 of stripe, but broke out running 7.228 to his 4.618.
Oh well, had a blast, glad to have found my reaction times again (I think), and car was hooking and running great. Just wish I had a 1/4 time to go with the 1/8 pass (My best 1/8 mile is 7.213, and I know with 400 ft DA it coulda run something close to a high 11.30's pass).
Sorry so long, hope everyone had a good weekend racing!

WOW Derek! You had me on the edge of my seat with your race #4 and the final. Damn, talk about close. It would have been so cool if you would have beat that electronics rail, oh well. Great showing from you as well.
We should be back in the lanes this friday, worked out the bugs (I hope) and we will be running some local events soon.

Thanks for all the kind words guys! Was a long night, but those are the best kind!
Jake,
Gainesville Raceway in Florida, but believe me competition there usually doesn't cut those kind of lights. I've gone home by 2nd-3rd round with 30-40 thousandths packages in footbrake plenty of times.

I was kinda figuring the lights just fell your way. like me at finals last year get a bye with a .057 in the race of champs, the only better light was the guy I beat he had a .009, talk about blowing the finishline.
