Default Went to the track for the first time, Ran a 13.8@102

I went to the track tonight in petersburg, virginia for the first time. Here is my time slip.

R/t-.380
60'-2.234
330-5.997
1/8-9.013
MPH- 82.43
1000- 11.604
1/4- 13.809
MPH- 102.16

That was my best run out of 4, I spun the tires really bad at the begining maybe thats explains my 60 ft times. It was about 85 degrees at the track and 85% humidity. I had half a tank of gas and left my spare tire and jack and everything in, so if I take that out on a cool day and practice my launches some hopefully ill do alot better.

Does anyone have any tips on launching cause i hold the brake and rev the engine before the green light, but i spin real bad, should i just not worry about revving it up. thanks

Also what do you think my car would run in the winter with low humidity, 1/4 tank of gas, and spare tire and jack removed?

what rpm are you holding it aT? I Learned if i brake tqed anyhting over 2100 rpm i would spin but right at 2k-2100 i could launch really good. and i usually got 2.0 60fts with my street tires. also lower to rear tire pressure to about 30ish psi.

mabe even brake tq to just say 1900 rpm. and on the green light let off the brake and go tinot the gas pedal easy. dont just push it straight down. try to ease into it as the rpms are going up and traction is barely holding. it will take alot of tries probly 4-5. and probly some goof ups of your car going into second before it needs to. but once you get it down you will get 2.0 60fts all day.

as far as weather. going form 90 degree heat and humidity to like low 60s and no humidity can be 1-2 tenths difference and 1-2 mph gain.

Yeah I stalled to around 1500 i think if i just let of the brake like you said and easily go into thr throttle my 60' will increase alot. Thanks,

I have my tires at 30pss, could I take them a little lower to like 25 to get some more traction?

You want to be careful with street tires being too low at the track. If you've ever done a burn out on the street with low tires you may have noticed that the outside edges of the marks are darker than the insides. This is because street tires have a pretty rigid side wall. What this does is takes away from the contact patch of the tire. The center isn't making very good contact. Ask around at the track when you are there what others are runnig their street tires at and what their 60's are. And then the most important thing... practice, practice, practice. Oh, and if practice doesn't help enough, start modding. Suspension parts are just as important as horse power mods. Have fun!

Don't stall the stock converter at all. Just stab the throttle on the last yellow.
You'll cut 2.0 60's all day long.

-Stay out of the water box.
-Do a min-burnout to clean the tires off only.
-Drop teh rear tires down to 28psi.
-Air up the fronts to 38-40psi.

Do not drive through the waterbox. Drive around it. Stay out of
it entirely when on street radials.

No one knows your car like you. Practice is the key. Launching tecnique will vary with track prep and the tire you are running. I bring it just over idle and flash the converter. Different strokes for different folks.

Heat the tires up and just floor it. My car hooked fine and cut 2.0s everytime with 3.23s.

I do a quick burnout to heat them a little and clean them off, I totally avoid the waterbox since street tires do nothing but drag the water on the track. I've tried heating them and not heating them and heating them always works better in my case.

Yeah next time im just gonna ask one of the track officials where to do one, cause on the website somwhere i think it says burn outs can only be done in the water box.
