Default bad day racing

well this past sunday i went to the track with my SS , first time at a dragstrip with it. i get started in the trial run and do a little burn out to get heated up. I pull up to the line and idle up to about 2500 which was dumb with trac off and smokem all through 1 and 2 and finally get trac on in 3 to stop spinning. ended up i ran a suck *** run of 14.65 at 105mph. Now i know i definately need some practice lauching and some tires. any opinions or advice to get the traction i need.

there is a positive. ur mph is good, that means u r making some good power. i have a problem launching, i can only get a 2.3 in my 60'. i ran a 14.1 at 105 but i was running the car in 100 degree weather. so if i get my 60' down to 2.0 and cooler weather, i think i would be good for a 13.5. i have 18 inch tires with sumitomo tires which suck! plus i suck at driving, but i can grind through the gears pretty hard

Try to launch just a little above idle, and then after it bogs essentially roll into the throttle hard. I cut a 2.2 sec. 60' on street tires w/ the 3.42 gearing. Honestly the gearing sucks, and 3.73 or 4.10's will help you to not bog outta the hole using that method.

The other method is to slip the clutch alot, but it causes alot of damage in the process.

Stickboy31, do you go to California Speedway? If so, maybe i'll see you there.

I'm surprised more people arn't posting "you suck" threads to this! I don't mean to be offensive but it seems most of the time someone admits to 2.3 60's and 14 sec runs that is what happens. I think with a M6 a lot of inexperienced racers have traction issues and launching problems. I know I do. I posted about my observations in the section above this one, Drag Racing Tech. Hope it helps. Remember lots of practice. Check out this thread.

You know what they say; "A bad day racing is better than a good day working."

it was just enough to clean the tires not a actual burnout
