Default More progress: 346cid - 10.89 @ 129 (1850' DA)

We went to the track tonight to do some more testing and the weather definitely went to crap. Track temps hovered around 85 degrees most of the afternoon, pressure was a pathetic 29.90 and the humidity was high. Went to the track with the mindset to make a couple of soft passes and than start laying down the hammer once we have had a few good passes under our belt with the new setup. Tonight Density altitude was very very high 1850'. Recap car: 346", 11 degree heads, pump gas.

First pass, line lock wouldn't engage so we had to stage on cold tires. The tires lit up as soon as the clutch came out, pedaled a couple of times and ran it out to a 11.1 @ 128 shifting @ 7400. A/F was 12.7:1 and timing was 26-27 degrees. For the next pass we pulled 4% fuel and a couple of degrees of timing shooting for 13.1:1 A/F.

Second pass, found out the linelock wire was cut from last weeks pulley explosion so we wired it up in the staging lanes. For some reason it still didn't want to hold so we did a mini rolling burnout and staged the car. Launched alot easier than normal and spun, went a pathetic 1.69 60' and ran it out to a 10.89 @ 129. The car cut off as soon as I crossed the line and had a handful stopping it on the big end. A buddy came down and towed us back to the trailer. The car wouldn't start and threw alot of codes.

Doing alittle looking the MAP sensor had been rubbing the firewall and cracked the housing so we loaded it and went home. All and all we're happy, 129 is a big MPH for 1850', the ET will come once we solve the linelock problem.

Nice runs considering the line-lock problems. Baby steps!! 1100DA BAD? We'd kill to have 1100 DA. You'll get there. 10.8's on engine only is very good shake down runs. I'm sure you have more in the car.

Congrats

David

Nice times Phil. I figured with 12.5:1 SCR and 9.45:1 DCR, you'd spring for a few gallons on 104 unleaded. I can't believe you're doing all this on 93 octane?

Thanks man. We were shooting for 130 and with some fuel, timing, new headers and intake we should get there. I've always loved how your car leaves, there is nothing better than big wheel stands and fast ETs. I've debated about selling the chassis and building a Camaro because of your car. How do you like your new car?

Thanks guys, I think we're going to try some 104 octane and more timing, we pulled 4 degrees on the 2nd pass and the car felt flat but did more MPH. We're going to switch out the 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" with high flow merge collectors. Not sure if they will help or hurt but I can tell you the exhaust port is wider than my current header.
Phil
