Default slight new bests tonite, 9.88 and 1.38 60'

managed to get up to the track for a bit after doing a few things in preparation for the Lsx shootout in the last 2 weeks. I put a set of Hoosier drag radials on my other set of rims for the true street and index races. also swapped to a 4" intercooler, and swapped cams to one KP is letting me try that he ran previously.

the track is about 65 miles from me or so, decided to see how the car would do and drive it there and back. haven't raced since 5 months ago.

of course as usual things had to be difficult. get there and my laptop mysteriously stops reading the port. took 30 minutes to fix that, been all year. go and make my first pass and the blower tosses the charge pipe right off the outlet. never had that happen before. took over and hour to fix that as i had to swap some clamps around and the clamps had come apart. car also got much better mpg on the ride up then i expected so it took me forever to get the pump gas out of it so i could mix in a good amount of 112 leaded.

I FINALLY get to make some real passes with no time left before closing time. first one the car had fuel cutout right in the 60 foot then took off again. only 1.79 sixty foot cuz of that but it still went 10.4@135 on 13 PSI, ok.

figured that problem out and went again. went a new best of 9.88 @ 135 on a 1.40 sixty foot. only 10 minutes of cool down, car was heat soaked.

ok so i up the 2 step by 400 RPM and rest 10 min again. track wouldn't hold the car and it went 10.0 on a 1.47 sixty foot.

lanes were gonna close so i just went right back in without shutting the car off to see how it would hot lap. jumped out in the lanes and dumped the 2 step back down by 200 rpm. this pass netted a new best 60 foot of a 1.39, went 9.90 @ 134.

AFR was nice and fat/safe as usual. high 10 to low 11:1. I also short shifted everything pretty bad, didn't realize my shiftlight was set to low. IAT's were BOILING at 190 degrees. didn't have anyone there to hit my IC with water like last time and didn't build my box around it to seal the IC to the bumper.

I think 9.70's or 60's would have been in the bag with better IAT's and more RPM on the shifts.

then i drove it home on the highway 65 miles again

well still needs another trip but it showed me it can do the street challenge allright and these Hoosier dot tires hook like sons of guns. would have been nice not to have problems and take my time to see what I could get out of the car but oh well, that's racing.

next weekend I'll go again and work and slowing to a 10.0 consistently. its all i'm legal to so that's what i'm gonna aim for at the shootout.

street car baby

Congrats Sean, driving it there is pretty cool. Better to find all the issues now then have something stupid happen in Memphis. At least all the major parts stayed in place.

thanks boys, the showcar is heading back to the track tomorrow nite. this time in our enclosed. man kirkey's are not made for road trips. i was sore as hell for 2 days.

we're gonna put it on kill for a couple passes to see if i can run a little quicker yet in this kinda shitty air we still have around here right now, and then back it off to 10.0 and practice for the shootout.

Hey the car looked good as always. The track hook wasn't the best, I tried a big jump on the 2 step and could only manage a 1.40 spinning the tires.

I was coming down the return road and heard your car when you blew off the tube, it was loud!

Good luck! Andy.

I'm going the car's not at this point. The cars been a PITA all year and I've been missing small issues. I'm putting another set of head gaskets in and we'll see what happens.

i can understand that. last year was the season from hell. 8 months striaght of murphy's law beating my *** to the ground. had alot to do with me not racing for the last 5 months this year either, i just didn't want to deal with anything.
