took the T/A to the track..disapointed
granted it was my first time ever taking the car. i went up there with my buddy who's got a 1998 z28 a4 w/ a SLP lid. he ran first and ran a 13.51..i was pretty confident i would be right there with him...well, no. my best run was a 13.81 @ 101.1mph
(yes, my r/t's are garbage)but ill work on it
temp---76
R/T -.451
60 - 2.156
330 - 5.917
1/8 - 8.967
MPH - 81.34
1000 - 11.587
1/4 - 13.817
MPH - 101.10
the ride home was hell because I just couldnt figure out why i was almost a whole half second slower.and my trans was just recently rebuilt.i know its not a major difference maker but w/ a vigilant shift kit.
he was running street tires that normally cant grip for ****, and im running BFG GForces.
i know the lid makes somewhat of a difference, but that much?
im planning on doing plugs and wires,a tune and a lid this week
just looking for some input on my run.thanks guys

Is it an LS1 car, if so, depending on the DA, i would say its on the slow side. your 60ft. is bad, but with my high mileage 97 bolt-on LT1 M6, this is what it ran.
2.17 60ft. 13.79 @ 101.01

Possibly try changing the plugs and wires and give it another shot. The rebuilt trans isnt going to do anything except it might just feel better when it shifts with the shift kit. You should add a stall as your next mod that seems to be the best mod for the a4's. I noticed that your location said nj what drag strip did you run at? I was at island dragway in nj friday nite but got booted after my first pass due to no cage.

I agree your trap speed is a bit low but considering what sounds like a bone stock car in the summer and the 60 foot time it's not all bad.
My Formula bone stock ran 13.47 at 103.50 mph with a 2.06 60 foot in FL August air.
As mentioned above, a check of all the normal tune-up stuff (plugs, wires, filters, etc) might uncover something, but otherwise work on the launch and get a few bolt-ons (or a bunch) and make her faster!

dont do like the guy said and add a stall or mods.... NEVER MOD a sick car. EVER.... find what is causing you to run slow before you start throwing mods on it. that trap is hella slow.
im a Auto vert and i trapped 105 stock and 104+ is about 90% of all ls1s. alot of times when your trap is hurting its either struggeling to get air or fuel/spark most likely fuel/spark
best thing would be to find a dynoshop. so they can actually scan your car and get #;s at the same time. it might need some bad tuning.

don't feel so bad. i bought an 00 z28, all option 273 car. it went 14.1 @ 101 like a clock on a 2.0 60' in COMPLETELY stock trim. 45k mile one owner car. i added a lid, long tubes, ls6 intake and true duals - on the stock tune the car went from 101 mph to 110 mph the next week. mid-summer as well here in central indiana, da ~2500'. moral of this story - don't worry about it. the car probably isn't sick - just slow in stock trim. no codes and a tune-up - then mod away.

like i said im doing plugs and wires this week. whats a common plug to run in these cars - ACDelcos or NGKs
i was just going to do the usual MSD wires
and thanks for the advice guys..

I would not feel bad, in the head/humidity of summer your car is bound to run a little slower.
If it was a stick I would just tell you to practice more, being an auto, maybe it just needs a good round of maintenance.
Plugs [NGK TR55's]
Wires DO NOT DO MSD wires. I honestly thing they are garbage. I would run GM Performance parts wires. I have been using them for years and never had a problem.
Clean the filter of get K&N if not already in there
Fuel Filter
maybe even run GM top end cleaner through it.
See you at E-town in the fall! lol
PS To make you feel better, my first run in my TA was a 14.1 @ 101. My last stock pass was 12.85 @111.22 But that was just practice.

+1 to that, my first run was 14.1 @ 101 And I forgot to turn the traction control off to clean the tires a little bit. Also don't think to much is wrong, plugs wires and possibly fuel filter. These cars are getting old to and hell my 99 is almost 10 years old too
Plus if you would have gotten a 2.0 60' then you would have ran 13.6. Congrats on your first time to the track in a LS1.

fwiw i bought the autozone specials for plug wires, and they work fine. my buddies have had them on a cam/n2o cars for years with no problems. whatever you do, don't let the truck plug wires suffice. they are longer and will cause problems with header primary tubes when the time comes.
