Default First real passes - 2000 Mustang LSx swap

Man tonight was a great learning experience. Shawn from Virginia speed made the 2+ hour drive to help out and man was it worth it. I had Brian, shawn and my wife Jessica helping between rounds, we had a 40 minute turn around time and we used every minute. Got to MIR early and coaxed Jason into letting us make a single pass since we really did not have a clean pass to date. Couple of 1/8 mile and thats it. Well we made the first hit and the car went up in smoke, spun on the launch and down track, almost put it into the wall. We knew we had along night ahead of us.

We regrouped came back, topped off the fluids, called the Madman and got some suspension advice. We tweaked the suspension exactly how Madman said, Shawn put a soft tune up in the BS3 and we came up with a crazy boost curve to see if we could get the car down the track. Well it worked!
1.30x 60' without any power in the car.

Tuneup was soo soft it wasn't funny, the car was on the rev-limiter 80-900' out. Went a .20 @ 178. This was with ~18psi and 18psi was not online until 6 seconds into the run.

2nd round, we tightend up the tuneup alittle and added some boost, car left clean to another 1.3 60', but the driver had a brain fart and forgot to go WOT for the last 1/8 mile and ran an 8.1x @ 171 with 60% TPS over the last 1/8 mile. We increased boost to 20psi and pulled it back in to 5.5 seconds. We know we can ramp it in faster.

3rd run we shook the tires and had some fuel issues. Called it quits.

I can't thank My wife Jessica for helping all night, Shawn was flawless on the tuneup and setup advice, As always brian is there when you need him....

Shakedown pass:
YouTube - LSx turbo aborted run

1st qualifier - 1st real pass in the car, very very soft tuneup. left with very little boost and had 18psi 6 seconds out of the 8 second pass - Not too bad first real pass 8.2x @ 178
YouTube - Turbo-LSx 2nd pass 1st round

1st round of elimination: 20psi @ 5.5 seconds out and for some reason was not on the gas
YouTube - LSx turbo 3rd pass on new setup

2nd round:
YouTube - LSx turbo another pass

You bet, the car is under 3200 without the ballasts and perfect weight distribution.

Ya think???

Phil, what is your goal. Am not really knowlegable about sub 9 second cars, but how deep into the 7s do you think you will go? 7.6Xs would be sweet.

I thought i read somewhere that you would be boosting 25+#s eventually. Is it true?

Also, what class are you going to be running in?

LSX shootout in the future? I assume it is open to all lsx powered cars, even ones in a ford shell.

We're going to run as much boost as the motor and track can take, just need to figure out how fast we can bring it in. We know we can get down the track, now its a matter of how fast we can bring the boost in.

Just wait till everything get figured out and we stat leaning on that thing-going to have to scrap that 25-5 and go 25-2.That car is making more power at low boost than just about any other radial car out there. It would have went 180+ at 20psi if it werent for a damn fat spot in the tune

Looking good Phil.

I am not sure about the most HP Shawn but it is running well for still being a green combo.

Thanks and I was just busting your *****. I don't care about claims, with a rep and experience like you guys have the car will be speaking for itself.

Good luck!

incredible runs for "shakedowns" phil! 7s will be no problem (if there is ever such a thing in radial!)

you said you were on the limitor, do you intend on going to a 295 or 315 30" radial?
