First Run at 1/8th...Stock SS
Okay So first off I'm in West texas, which means my times aren't gonna be good as most up north. My friends car will run a 8.2 here and then go to Dallas and run a 7.8 with the exact setup. Now for my question. Is my run a average run? Or a God awful run? I have a 2001 ss w/ the basics. pacesetter longtubes, tsp off road y pipe, magnaflow muffler, electric cutout, slp lid port n polished throttle body, NO TUNE. 323 rear end gears (not the best for the 1/8) Stock suspension. Anyways I ran a 9.0 with m/t's and 9.10 with street tires. ran both consistently... Now some of my friends say about right for my car. Others say I should have to give my car away because a how bad a driver i am?? Now keep in mind, I'm launching with the stock torque converter, launching at 1700. Some one help me out here please
Thanks
Thanks

Where are you in West Texas?
What was your 60' time?
With a tune, converter and gear change that thing will really wake up..
And, I have a hard time believing that your friend's car runs 8.2's in the 1/8 with a stock converter out in our altitude.. are you sure your setups are the same?

No he doesnt have the same mods. I meant he had the same setup when he ran the 8.2 then when he ran the 7.8 in Dallas. He has a standard, I have no aftermarket stahl. lol I ordered one about 2 1/2 weeks ago from fuddle and I'm still waiting on it.
2.19 60 foot was my best. 2.21's every other time... Haha I'm in Midland too
Chris, what kinda ls1 you drive. I bet I know you! Wait a sec... Spears?

Well you might not remember me, but a while back I drove a Hugger Orange z28 that was bone stock... then I got caught street racing way toomuch and the follks found out and they made me sell it. Matured a bit and finally got me something. lol I was part of insomnia but not anymore. Everybody knows you and Jerry around town for your tuning. you must bank on that with all the guys ive met with your tune. Now I drive a loud Black SS w/ torque thrust wheels.

over here in Dallas when my 02' WS6 was stock except TSP lid and cutout it went 8.6@84 with stock stall and tires then I added a Yank 4K stall, long tubes true duals, with NO TUNE and BFG DR's and went 7.9@ 80(no tune= no shifting at WOT on the 2-3 shift) so if your buddy went from 8.2 to a 7.8 here then you would probably go mid 8's but that stall will help you tear up some *** but remember the stall will eat up dyno #'s but whoop *** in races! good luck!

The easiest way to compare would be to having everyone comparing correct their passes to sea level, that way its a even comparison.. like using SAE factors on a dynojet.

Do you have any codes popping up? I'm sure the car would run a good bit better with a good tune in it as well.
Not a perfect comparison I know, but my old Trans Am with about the same mods yours has now (except mine was a 6 speed) I ran a 12.71 @ 109 in the 1/4 out in our altitude with a 1.9x 60'.. I think my 1/8 then was a 8.1-8.2's.
You definitely need a good efficient torque converter and a gear swap, with a tune.. IMO

top speed was 80 mph. The torque converter was friggin ordered 4 weeks ago this coming wednesday from Fuddle. 3800 stahl. I have the stock 323's and I like those enough b/c i want it to be a 1/4 mile car not an 1/8th mile car. And once I get the converter I'll be getting my tune from Jerry. I hope my converter gets here fast enough b/c I leave for school in dallas in 2 weeks! btw I hear we have a mutual friend. fireman T. J. lol small world.
