Default First time at the track EVER!

Well I went to the track today, it was my first time being to a track let alone racing.

This is the exact order I ran them.

60ft...2.52
1/8...9.74
1/4 14.73...hahaha
mph 98.98

60ft...2.30
1/8...9.44
1/4...14.34
mph 100.08

60ft...2.30
1/8...9.39
1/4...14.24
mph 102.33

60ft...2.24
1/8...9.32
1/4...14.18
mph 102.03

60ft...2.18
1/8...9.07
1/4...13.86
mph...103.21

I thought I ended the day pretty good, for it being the first time at the track.

The most impressive thing I thought was 2.1 60ft off of 235/35/19 street tires that where pretty bald. All of these where launching at about 1000 rpms. Except the first 2.

What do you guys think?

not bad for your first runs...it will get better as you learn when to shift, launch, and row them gears

yeah, I was going to run again since I had cut my times by at least .1 each time and my 60ft was getting better and better but the staging lanes where becoming very long.

Keep practicing man, its the only way to get better! I remember getting all fired up when i ran 13.3 my second time at the track in my firebird with only lid/catback. With a stock rearend, master the art of slipping the clutch off the line and you will see 1.8-1.9 60' times. Good luck!

I think with better/cooler weather and slipping the clutch at higher rpm's will get me where I should be

As mentioned, time and more runs will get you to the place you want on what you have for mods and learning the launch/shift, etc.

Good job for first time, remember to have fun and enjoy the laps!

Not bad at all~ And for the first time out, I'd call that an outstanding performance!

Of course you're completely screwed now... Forget retirement, the kids college fund... every penny you earn will now be dedicated to 'just one more tenth... and THAT'S IT!'

Well done and we'll see ya at the track...

With regard to the 19" rims... if they're steel, it's weight first and lots of it. I have been running steel 20s since I bought the car and two weeks ago mounted a set of MT ET Streets on stock 16" salad shooters... it's not a major difference... It's a no 'f*&^@&^% contest... I'm talking two parallel lines which will never intersect; two completely distinct dimensions... IT'S BIG!

Geez this is bothering me, lol do you think clogged cats would bother my times? I have been pulling a bad cats code. I haven't worried about them yet just because I plan on TDs and LTs this summer. just wondering.

With a bad cat your car will feel like ****, get a drag setup with some stickies and practice launch

Well it seems to get up and go but the time slips just arent there. Maybe it cause I need the driver mod. But it seems like im shifting pretty good. Slipping the clutch at about 2,000 rpms. (worried about rear)

2.1 60 foot.

What gives?.... My buddies 99 Mustang Cobra is .1 ahead of me in the 1/4 mile. Thats with an CAI, ORX, Flowmaster CB, and a UD pulley.
