Default Just having fun at Dragstrip with D1SC SS Camaro Street Car:)

Ill put up the time slips for those who dont believe me, (since i go to preaching school and all - and would hate to lie) haha

2001 SS Procharged D1SC car..
Stock bottom, stock heads, stock ls6intake..
660hp, 543rwhp

Played with the air pressure- put 23pounds - still spinning the 18's with street tires..

1st pass friday night at National Trails..
2.41 60' foot
12.40 et
125.7 mph

2nd pass friday night- hot lap....
2.39 60' foot
12.79 et
125.1 mph

Just having fun with it- if it had a set of 15inchers and slicks- it would be a 10.20-10.50 car with no problem at 130-132mph.. These last 2 runs were of a huge improvement from a month ago with having 120mph.. (kept 32pounds of air in tires) lol

Well.. What do you guys think?? Im going to keep messing with air pressure- and hopefully try to get some lower 60's - with the 18's and try to get closer to my goal of 130mph with 18inch wheels..

That thing is fast. You should put some slicks or sticky street tires on it once just to see what it'll do. Any under hood pixs?

Good numbers for street tires. Get Drag Radials.

I dont understand how you were getting 2.4 60's

I was puling 2.3s consistently with a FWD open diff sedan with 200whp on worn all season tires on an unprepped track in 90 degree temps.

How were you launching the car?
You should be able to pull better 60's just walking it off the line.

I had pulled a 2.39 60- once.. not to hard- car spins the tires from (just idle) all the way up to about 5k rpms.. then from there- it hooks up..

It will pull a better 60- with a set of dot street slicks- just havent done it- nor will i probably do it- cause i think its fun running 12's with 125+mph..

.... its a 10.20-10.60 car.. with decent 1.40-1.60- but then id have to put a cage in it.. stupid to tear up a nice car like that.. i have other camaros with cages..

Your MPH is actually gonna drop when you hook it up. Slower 60' times usually equate to higher MPH. I'd guess you'd go about 11.0 on a good tire at about 122-123. Maybe a high 10 if the track was prepped really well.

am I the only one who sees taking a 660HP car to the track on street tires a HUGE waste of time and money?

I only have 507HP and I cant get the car to hook till tht etop of 3rd gear on my street tires and they are Nitto 555R2's...

Just seems pointles to me... but hey, maybe im alone on this one.

Nice MPH! But I think you need to learn to slip the clutch out and moderate the power, then you can get a 60' that is at least decent.. You dont have to go to WOT as soon as the light goes green... the throttle pedal is not an on/off switch
