Default First results from the track - not great - suggestions please

Ok, got back tonight from my first track session ever.

car is an LT1 A4, 450RWHP, 3.23, MT drag radials (see all other stuff in sig)

Running at 5200ft elevation.

12.9 @ 106mph.
Reaction time .42
60 - 1.94
8th - 8.31@83.4

I was hoping for 12.4ish or better.

My reaction time sucked - .42

But outside of that, I thought the car could run faster.

I have not done anything to lighten the car.

What should I focus on to improve this time?

Wow, that really does suck. Few things to work on here.

450rwhp.. is this a dyno'd number or a guess? How is the tune working out? Was it tuned locally at that altitude or did you get it elsewhere? Any driveability issues?

First of all, the elevation sucks. Nothing you can do about that.

Second, reaction has nothing to do with your ET.. so if you were thinking that, that is out of the window.

Were you spinning a lot? If it was dead hooked, you REALLY have problems. I'm going to guess that you spun a lot, which is a big part of your problem. Things to do - suspension mods like shocks, lca brackets, adjustable torque arm.. those are good places to start with. Also, drop your tire PSI closer to 20 before you run. Don't go any lower than 15 though.

Is there a converter in your car? That will make a HUGE difference as well. If there isn't, I'd be looking in to a 3500 converter or so and 3.73 gears.

What size cam? Specs on motor?

At sea level you would have nailed your 12.4, that elevation is killer.

Wow just realized the car was blown also. That is a really low hp number for a blown car.. something isn't setup right. 450hp should be a heads/cam/383 car. The blower will also help you with your altitude problem.

Boost guage on the car? How much actual boost is it seeing?

1. this is a dyno'd number, tuned at this altitue, no drivability issues

2. got some spin, but not excessive as far as i could tell. I have lca brackets, but stock shocks and torque arm. my tire pressure is 30psi - will drop to 20 next time.

3. I have a 3200 converter in it already

4. 383, cam is Comp Cams 576/570, 230/236, 113 lsa, ATI 600b supercharger running 6lbs of boost.

My supercharger is maxed - smallest pulley i can run - I called ATI and they said with my displacement/cam, that is all i will get unless i upgrade to a D1sc - but i am out of money and will have twins here in about 1 month -- so anything i do will have to be on the cheap......

I would look in to an adjustable torque arm and definitly lowering your tire pressure.

It's amazing you barely spun at 30.. my almost stock 4000 stall ls1 blows off the tires at 30psi.

Let us now how she works, and congrats on the twins!
