Default My weight loss plans

Hey guys

Im going to be doing some dieting to my camaro come next spring and was wondering if anyone had any other ideas for me, i have looked at that list a ton of times.

1) back seats, mats
2) front seats, mats, installing race seats
3) entire exhaust (catback, y pipe, cutouts) to just mufflers off headers
4) AC
5) all the emission stuff
6) racing rims with new rubber (15x5 fronts so i can DD)

What else could i do thats fairly cheap and will still allow me to DD? i figured all this would take off 250-300 pounds.

well your stuck between a rock and a hard place ....it will be hard to have both light weight and dd safety . you can only go so far till your spending money on light weight stuff k-member, a-arms,ect and a lot of people dont want to drive without their bumper supports and hvac and door bars

battery relocation to the trunk would take a dent out of your numbers . abs , power steering , the stuff under your carpet . saftey stuff like mentioned front and rear bumpers , bars in doors , air bags . also the 15s assuming they are weld or similar weight should take another good chunk vs. factory wheels .

Yeah I'd get rid of the power steering assembly. I run on skinnies all the time and its not bad at all. Especially with the AC/HVAC out, tubular K member, no front bumper support, LTs took some weight off, solid motor mounts, lighter trans.

Pulling off the insulation backing on the carpet is a good idea.

There is alot of weight that can be taken out of these cars, i would also look at that panal under the steering column above your legs, that sucker is heavy, you can fab up something light & paint it, that small hatch in the trunk area is worth alittle, anything little that you can find to take out, do it, it'll add up, 300-400 lbs. shouldn't be too hard if you really look, that'll put your weight between 3000-3100 lbs. without a driver, thats pretty light for these cars IMO. this is what i would take out.

All AC components
PS
All smog stuff/air pump ect.
Spare/jack
Carpet insulation
Plastic panel under coulumn
All seats, replace with race seats
Drag light wheels
Front sway bar
Re-locate battery too trunk
Remove exhaust, bullets after LTs
There is alot of plastic panals all over that can be removed, it may only add up to 20-30 lbs., but thats 20-30 lbs. less, just DON"T remove that air damn for the radiator.

I'm sure you can find another 50+ lbs. on little stuff. You should invest in some SFCs at the least, this will add weight back in of coarse, but will keep the car from flexing.

An easy 10-15lbs can be seen in removal of the windshield washer tank and fluid. The tank is usually 3lbs or so, the fluid , depending on how full, is 10-12lbs. You can also lose the wipers for 5-6 lbs.
