We've glued them to the body with urethane adhesive, like you'd use for a windshield. It works great and no distortion from welding (heat makes things move and warp) nor from the tub moving!

if the car is tied in properly it should flex much at all. if you weld them be ready to paint you quarters because if it gets hot enough its going to make the paint pop and distort the metal a little bit anyways. personally i would just glue them in. regardless your going to seam seal the tubs anyways to prevent any water leaking from washing or smoke coming in from burnouts.

It would also make the paint bubble. Everyone I've seen do it has used some sort of seam sealer.

we spot weld the tubs to the quarter panel. It does burn the paint off in spots, but it makes the tubs a bit more solid in the car. You'll be going to the body shop anyway, since you'll be cutting that radius into the front part of the wheel well.

forgot to mention to spot weld it in. but yeah be ready for some extra body work and if your going to put a full tub in but without moving the rails or anything be ready to cut the hinge off for the gas cap. with a mini tub you'll be fine.

x2 we did these full tubs on a fox body recently, ended up taking the gas lid off completely and welded a piece of sheet metal to the quarter panel in its place.
