Default Anyway to help a 10 bolt survive?

Well long story short, I blew up my 10 bolt last year and squandered away the money I saved to purchase a 12 bolt. So, I just bought a used 10 bolt off craigslist (thanks Jeff!) and hope to have it live a couple months until I resave the money for the new rear is there anything I should use snake oil wise that might make it live longer? Car is a stalled auto lt1 3.73s upper 11s

Yeah major bummer... car was running 11.5xs at esta last year and on the last pass it hooked hard then lost traction 20ft out and caught again hard a second time then made alot of crunching noises. I think someone dragged some water or something down the track this rear is a newer 98 up style so well see (please, please live a couple of months)

Just don't launch hard and it will be fine (probably).

If you really really cared, you wouldn't be racing at all on it.

dont even bother with it. go 12bolt or 9" and be done with it. I cut a 1.44 60ft with my 10bolt 2 weeks ago. its coming out and a 9" is going in.

They live forever if left laying in the corner of the shop.

The best way to help the 10-bolt survive is to replace it with a 9", powdercoat it, and hang it on the wall as an ornament.

if your car is an A4 you have a chance..if you launch at over 3k forget it. I have a 3,600 converter, M/T radials and 3.73 and I'm ok.

if its an auto car you can make it live but any wheel hop or tire shake will snap that POS.... you can actually run really fast with them but tire shake and hop is hard to get around some times... i suggest not racing it...

There are a few websites discussing how to weld, brace or otherwise reinforce the 10bolt,
but none of the solutions seem bullet-proof or cheap. As your project vehicle starts cutting 1.70s,
you should start saving pennies for a 9in, 12bolt or S60 conversion. The end is near LOL

Mine lasted quite a few 1.5x and 1.6x launches with the H/C motor in 07.
Didn't do so well between dyno tuning and street testing with the 383 in there LOL.
Never even got it to the track.
It's only upgrade was an aftermarket housing cover from SLP (standard for 02 camaro SSs IIRC)

I used Red Line shock proof gear oil. Minee lasted 7 years with one of those running mid tens. Like TYstated any wheel hop and its done. Oh I also ran 3.42 gears. The steeper the gears the quicker they snap.

I went a year with my old set up and ran a 10.36 on a 10 bolt 3:42 gears w/drag radials 26inch tall tire. Then one night on a hard launch snap the spyder gears and snap the kickdown in my tranny after that I said F it and went and bought a moser 12 bolt. Thank god the tranny company stood behind the tranny and fixed it for free. Im with JL do it right and buy a 12 bolt.

So far Ive gone mid 1.4's on a stock 3.42 rear this year.

I went high 1.5's all last year no problem.

255 MT street radials, Im about to swap to a 26" 275 50 15 tire next week and spray this bitch out of the hole!

honestly id say dont race it by any means until you get something bigger- unless you want to be looking for another 10 bolt to get you through.... if you have a build 10 bolt and a couple of backups ready to go in, you can give it a little bit of abuse
