Default Setting lash question

Tried this in another section but figured it would best be answered in here.

When I use the EOIC method I am having slight issues with the intake lash. If I set the intake when the exhaust just starts to open at .002 then run the exhaust all the way open I get .005-.006 lash. I do not get this problem with the intake cause I set the exhaust with the intake all the way open. I am assuming I am not on the base circle when setting the intake when the exhaust is just starting to open. I readjusted using the intake all the way open st ex and ex all the way open set intake and re-checked and it seemed to stay consistent. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Dial indicator, feeler gages? Are you removing lash by only rotating the engine in the direction it spins when running? Do you have a way to "pin" the flywheel in place so you are always checking lash at the EXACT same location each and every time?

Feeler gauges and spinning it clockwise only. No way to pin the flywheel. Going old school on it.

Cam Motion recommends the tdc method for the lash adjustment. I will try it that way to see if it works better.
