there are two mainstream kits used by most follks.

The burkhart kit starting at $199
http://www.burkhartchassis.com/id84.html

The SJM kit starting at $139
http://www.sjmmanufacturing.com/cam_brk_ls1.html

From what I understand, both are excellent kits. The SJM kit comes with complete instructions, but I am not sure about the burkhart kit.

Both are available with an optional line lock which costs extra.

The kit saves an average of 12-13lbs on an ls1-fbody.

This is correct.

Does anyone know if it actually blocks pressure from reaching the rear brakes or applies it to the front? If it is the former, that means you still have to press the foot brake while performing the burnout.

you flip it on, hit the brake pedal, hold the button and let off the brakes. it holds the pressure on the front brakes and releases the rear so you can do your burnout.

...and FWIW, i have the SJM linelock/ABS delete kit going in my car. it's well worth the money.

Go to the link and look. $180 ++

add $20 for a special tool you need for the install and another $22 if you want the shifter switch for the line lock kit.

Figure $250 after tax and shipping if you get all the extras.

Our directions are clear and precise. Pictorials are included with a schematic for the line lock (if you do not already have one).

Base kits come with all fittings and pre-formed lines and a proportioning valve to bias the brakes. Without ABS, you have zero bias controllability thus why we include one with every kit. Our kits completely remove the ABS bracket and ABS controller. Though preformed hard-lines do slightly increase the difficulty level, we choose to use only hard-lines as adding flexible lines to a braking system decreases brake performance due to line expansion.

Using our solenoid, the kit is complete even with the double flare tool for 199.99. You view the website if you prefer different solenoids or combinations. Give us a call if you have additional questions. Kits are in stock and ship typically within 24 business hours.

Shown below are a few sample installs of each solenoid type (and complete kit).

Very nice kit. With the proportioning valve , will it help with a stall converter on foot brake by adding more brake to the rear, or is it just to add more to the front?

I have the SJM setup. Nice kit. I had the lines redone to move the valve and solenoid behind the strut tower.

you lose about 14 lbs... isnt much but it also cleans up the engine bay some and give a little work room.

not sure about the driving part though, its still something i want to do to mine, and im in the same boat about the dd situation

I don't think the ABS will even work right with slicks on the back, and might be worse then not having it if you have a manual adj. prop. valve you setup. It dosn't work with diffrent sized tires for sure.
That, the weight savings 18-25#s redoing everything? And making is cleaner, easier to work on the car with aftermarkter Kmember, or turbo. And more room for plugs,heads/headers.

I'm sure thought kits are great. I'm happy with what I did, I htink you have to flare lines anyway. Thats the hardest DIY part, the stock lines are a bitch to flare. I just got a used SLP line like mike@newera gave me, somone stripped a fitting out and retuned it years ago. Got the adj. prop. valve form summit for like $15-$25 I think it was. And $20 in lines and fitting from the local parts store.
