Default Gear for spray?

I'm close to ordering my new 9" and was planning on going with 4.11s. I have 28" MTs, a T56 and plan on spraying in the 1/4. With 4.11s will I be shifting to 5th at the end?

depends on what rpm you are turning and what kind of mph your car will be going at the top end.

Check the sticky, I cant use the link at work.

What power are you making?

Any track results before, and what gearing in the rear?

I have a bud that ran a 402 and a 150 hit plate kit and ran on a 28" tall M/T ET Drag with great success on 4.10's in a Moser 12 bolt. The knocked it down to 3.73's due to anticipating more power, lighter weight, and needing to calm the car down as it had gone on the bumper. But the motor's redline was set higher as well.

Just bear in mind Bias Ply will grow approx 1" at speed so that will give you a little more of a buffer when you run the calculator.

I'll check the sticky, if I can read it at work. Power right now is 556rwhp with 100shot. No results yet, I only made it about 2ft with the 10bolt and I'm on MT ET street radials.

I would go with 3.70's. I have 4.11's with 28" radials and 6 speed in my car. On the 150 shot it seems like I'm shifting to much. I havent been to the 1/4 but at our 1/8 mile track I have to shift into 4th a little before I cross the beams. This is with a 403" and 650hp...

When I was 11.2 n/a I ran a 26x11.5x15 M&H cheeter slick tire and was hitting a 150 shot from the hole. my rev was at 7,200,4.11's and a m6 trans. I went 10.2's@134mph and made it threw the traps in 4th gear. I did short shift at 6,000 in 1st and 2nd gear on the spray,3rd and 4th I let go ti'll the shift light came on at 6,600. I went with the 4.11's for n/a reason, but all worked out great. I got the best of both worlds. this year I am thinking about trying a 27'' tire because i'm faster n/a now.

When I ordered my rearend from Moser, they suggested the 3.89's. They worked awesome in my T-56 car.

fwiw i cant get thru the traps under power in my car but it is very close so i think with 556 you should be ok. unless the car is very light. and i dont know what valvetrain setup you have but you should be able to turn more then 6200. a stock ls6 can turn 6500 easily.

thanks for all the inputs. My cars not really light, I haven't done much to lighten it up. Valvetrain wise, just LS6 springs
