Default Burnout-Tire Smoke

Hi Guys,
I am wondering why I have little to no smoke from my tires when I do a burnout. I watch other guys and their tires smoke instantaneously once they start their burnout.

This isn't a big deal since I am satisfied with my launch/60 ft but I am just wondering.

In case it matters, I spin the tires for about 5-7 seconds, in first gear. The tires are 28X10.5 mickey thompsons. They might be a bit old, so I wonder if that is an issue?

Thanks

Your spinning them too slow. First gear isn't enough RPM to get them really going.

ANY tire will smoke, its just a matter of getting the tire speed up where it needs to be.

I have 4:56 gears in it with a 9". Yesterday was my first time out this year and over the winter I gained 30 hp but my mph didn't increase.

4.56's will be fine. You definately need to use 2nd gear with that rear ratio, might even need to use 3rd.

nope try just using the ratios

26/3.89 = 6.684

26/4.10 = 6.341

28/4.30 = 6.51...so he will almost have the same setup as now with 4.30s and rob can almost go through in 3rd now...he needs more gear

28/4.56 = 6.140

so it is just a hair more gear than people that have 26s and 4.10s...
