Default Anyone make their own door panels?

I gutted my car and am not digging not having door panels. Anybody have a solution? Anybody make their own light weight door panels?

The stockers really don't weigh much. I have them still and my car weighed in at 2985 w/ a full tank of gas without much effort.

edit: If you feel that new door panels are needed, here ya go. http://www.wolferacecraft.com/detail.aspx?ID=784

single ply as in .003" thick? That looks thicker then that. Where did you get it and what are teh demensions? Because, I see the .007" thick (thinnest stuff I found in demensions big enough for a door panel) Laminated Carbon Fiber Sheet 33 MSI Carbon 0° LAYUP was about $80ish in material for one door. and that works out cheaper then the wolfe stuff but I want to be sure that is what you used as I have never worked with CF before...

we made the carbon fiber... i think its what they call a 4 weave. it has a layer of kevlar behind it...

you have to buy it in a roll and epoxy it and vacuum bag it for several hours.... need to have someone thats done it before... too many things can get screwed up...

Ahh yeah the link I put up was already in "Plate" form so it was already set solid...

I may just go with alum and carpet/felt cover it like I was originally planning...

Weight is not an issue on these cars. Why cut the interior all to hell? If it was a 4500 pound 4 door New Yorker I could see it.

because no matter what youll never beat the power/weight ratio, i dont care who you are. And for the people who say "just make more power".... well how bout make the extra power and still loose more weight in turn making it even faster. Thats my 2cents

I like the CF ones, but I would make them look a little more civil for my 93. How much do they weigh?

I guess that is why I like stock eliminator. Run 10's with a stock lift camshaft, stock heads, intake and TB with no porting on any of that...and 3500 +/- pounds. I guess we could take a torch to everything and run 9's or 8's with the stock internals mentioned above. I don't know. I guess to each is his own. Some people think what I am doing is crazy too.

I don't really know much about fabrics and textiles, but what all goes into carbon fiber body panels, like the CF WS6 hoods you can find? Are those entirely CF? Or is carbon fiber a reinforced fabric stretched over a plastic or other hard surface?

I guess what I'm getting at is, how much of the Trans Am body could be replaced with carbon fiber panels, if these were available and/or they could be made?

if you're willing to pay for it i have a friend who has a shop and can make whatever you want out of carbon fiber.... but its expensive.

carbon fiber body panes are strictly carbon fiber layers and maybe some kevlar layers depending on how strong you want it or how light you want it...

my buddy makes CF 18 wheeler truck fenders.... toughest fenders around.

Those door panels are awesome. This is the answer for me, I hate that I screwed up my stock ones and don't want to replace them. Thanks.
