Default truck oil pan good for drag racing?

was curious if the oem lq9 truck pan is good for drag racing or not? i was thinking it would be better since it is higher capacity and rear sumped...

was also curious whether or not it will fit on a stock 4th gen k member... i dont mind cutting and boxing if necessary....

also for people who have run it... how bad is the ground clearance on a stock ride height car?

I don't think I would run it will hang down below the k member. Probably at least an inch lower would be proned to getting hit.

I researched this and found a couple threads from people who tried it and said the pan will not clear the rack and pinion. It is a good bit deeper in the front as well as the back.

Here's a link from the conversions section with all the various pan dimensions: https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-oil-pans.html

According to that the truck pan is 1" deeper at the very front and 3 1/4" deeper at the back. I think, looking at that info, that the pan will hang a good 2" past the bottom of the k-member.

If you could get it to fit the car you could use a truck windage tray which covers the front 2 rods & front main cap.

That's the reason I wanted to use it. It seems like the full windage tray would be a bit more effective. Add to that the fact that you could run 5 quarts and have the oil level further away from the crank and it really starts to sound like a good idea.
