Default Ok to cut out lower and upper radiator support?

I need to move my radiator down an inch and forward some more to make room for my turbo. The lower radiator support doesn't have any structural support for the frame per say, so would there be any ill effects to cutting it out? iirc, Tom Kempf’s car doesn’t have anything on top or bottom between his front rails.

You can cut it out yes, but you will need to tie the frame rails back together somehow. Refabbing the lower moutn from round tubing or the like will do teh job. It's a common pratice with these cars, doing so gives you an assload more room to do what you're probably doing.

The burkhart setup is nice with the radiator location. I don't think that would be big enough for street use, but for a race car that's probably perfect for 99% of the combo's out there.

We use the bumper support to tie the frame together.

Steve,

With that bumper support, is there enough room to mount an IC there? I have my intercooler mounted directly between the frame rails. I need to know if it can still mount there with your bumper support.

I don't know if what you are looking to do but BMR site has a writeup on a Fbody running turbo and they cut the parts out and fabbed tubing in.

trying to make as much room as possible. I initially had it setup this way, but there still wasn't enough room for the GT47-88.

If Burger's bumper support has room to put a IC inside of it, i'll purchase that and all will be well. If not, i'll have to weld in my own type of round tubing.

We have a chiseled A2W in mine and have a few customers running the APS unit in the support.

I cut both mine out to relocate my stock rad&fans forward, and have not had any problems thus far... I think between the K-Member and the Front Bumper support there is plenty keeping the front tied up...

now THIS is how you relocate a radiator.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ocation-3.html

close in the sides and use the factory air dam to make it breath from the bottom and the air should flow through it better than a stock set up.
