Cam only, won't MPH!?!
Well, I had another good weekend of racing. I can post the breaks when I get home, but in a nutshell... 1.77 60' 12.59@107????? Something isn't going right. We have scanned and logged the car before, but it doesn't show any knock or timing reduction. I'm starting to lean towards a mismatched combo of parts.
Current cam came with the car. Was told it was 242/242 unknown lift on a 114icl. Anyway to verify this without pulling the cam out? I think the valvesprings are possibly getting tired. Cam was installed at unknown mileage, but I believe it may have possibly been around 03-04.
Also, I think the Flowtech headers are also slowing things down. Anyone else have them, then go to something better? Huge gain? Not worth it? Need some advice here as this is a mess. My previous lid, catback, converter, suspension car went 12.20@112ish? So I was expecting a slightly better # out of my cam car.

you should def be running more mph than that,i got a cust that has gone 120 with cam and headers 2001zo6-those headers are junk, and if those cam specs are correct-it's all wrong for what you have.

if it isn't at the limits of anything on the bottom end (traction), the 107 mph for a mid 12 second pass is about right. Most stick cars will mph more than an auto at the same e.t.

Stock 3.23 gear, rebuilt 4L60e, 3200 Vigilante. Trans and converter seem fine, shift well, no slippage.
I understand that the MPH is ok for the ET, however, 381rwhp should be slightly quicker...

You should be able to pull the timing chain cover and see what the grind number is (etched into the cam)... just hope it is not on the other side like the last cam I had.
There is a way to test the springs installed on the car, might have to do a Google search on it. You might to a leak down check while you are at it.
If all that checks out and the tune is good then it could be the converter... Did the trans go bad with that converter installed?
