Default Shorten rear guys, what 15" drag rims with stock calipers?

I am getting a shorten rear and was wondering what my options are for 15x10 rims with the stock calipers...Mine are ground just minorly for the 15x9 6.5b.c. convo pros, dont want to go any more than that though...I am mainly interested in people running convo pros or billet specialities, is it possible or will i need drag brakes...

Post your setups, pics are always welcome...

another quick question if the rear is shortened 2" i will need 5.5" backspacing, or will i need to mount the rear and verify it...its not like buying wood where a 2 x 4 is really 1.5" by 3.5"...thanks

I am narrowed 2 inches per side and just got a 15x10 5.5BS wheel. I am not sure what wheels will clear stock brakes though since I am running drag brakes to give me more wheel options.

So you are going to narrow a 10 bolt?

Or are you putting you stock brakes onto a 12 bolt, 9", or Dana 60?

If you are spending all that money and going to be racing the car, get racing brakes that will clear anything.

Also, buy the wheels and tires you want and then fit the rear to them. Nothing is perfect, and it is a lot easier to mock everything up with the exact parts you are going to use. This will save lots and lots of headaches.

For my setup, I have 15x10 Holeshot Sunstars (look like American Trakstars) with a 4.5" backspace. Holeshot (and Bogart too) are both awesome to deal with and can make about anything you may need.

I like my rear wheels. Granted I have a stock length rear end so I use 7.5" backspace, these Weld Racing R/T wheels are designed to clear LS1 brakes with no modifications.

Take it from me, go ahead and get some drag brakes while they are doing the rear. Any wheel will fit, and you'll end up doing them down the road anyway at more expense.

do aftermarket brakes like strange or aero come with their own backing plates, and caliper mounts...or will i need to use my stock ones that i ordered with the rear...if they do i need to cancel that adder from the order...

Honestly, I would call Steve at SJM and get a set of Bogarts. I am in love with mine. They are a little pricey, but well worth it.

They come with there own backing plates and mounts and such. Also you will loose your parking brake with drag brakes.

The stock backing plates are put onto the axle before they press on the c-clip eliminator. So if you install drag brakes later on you will need to have the bearings pressed off or cut the backing plates into two pieces(like I did) and toss them in the trash.

If you ever plan to go to a different gear in the car, go with a 9".

Unless you pull the axle, it is a pain to do in the car.

Also, the shims used to set your backlash on a 12 bolt are not nearly as good or user friendly as the adjustable nuts on a 9".

do you stop better with drag brags on the rear i don't get why you would spend the extra money on drag brakes when you can spend the extra money on a rim fo fitment?

Weight. Drag brakes are very light, and have less drag than stock brakes.

drag brakes will be on the car eventually anyways for the weight saving...front and rears save around ~80lbs (with some being rotating)

also it is $270 for stock backing plates and caliper mounts, so since i got the strange drag brakes and lines the difference only ran me ~$300...not a bad deal IMO for some drag brakes...plus no caliper grinding now...

You wouldn't have to grind anyways now that there are 25 different wheels out that fit over stock brakes.

I narrowed my nine inch 3 inches per side, 15x10 COnvo Pro with 5 inches of backspace. Fit fine with stock LT1 rear brakes.
