Default 4mph loss in 1/8 mile???

Short version, 99 FRC LT's, intake, ported TB, ti catback and 3.90's many runs 7.90-820's @ 89-90 mph
fast forward to today after stock clutch bit the dust installed tex clutch new slave, and changed to 4.10's ran several times tonight and couldn't muster any better than 8.40's at 85mph??? what gives clutch feels good 60 ft was in the 2's but my mph has always been 89-90mph with 60ft times 1.8-2.1 so i am at a lost on where 4 mph went on my traps.
The only change was the clutch and gears, my only thought so far is i am having to grab 4th gear now because i am still shifting at 5900 any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

if your best pass was in good air, you have to remember that summer air will account for 3-5 mph loss, sometimes more.

My Nova's mph from winter air to summer air drops from 97 mph to 93 mph in the worst of summer air.

Did it run the same every pass? if so, I would count the air as being worst than before.

Like said, you can only really compare timeslips in similar racing conditions. Do you know what the D.A. was?

having to grab 4th is part of it.at one time i could stay in 2nd with a taller tire and be tagging the limiter right after the stripe but it would trap 2mph higher than if i shifted to 3rd. worse air and that is my guess.

Thats very true too, and I forgot about that as when I was making 326 rwhp on 3.42's on a 26" tall tire, with a m6 in the 1/4 I could leave it in 3rd and finish it out and nearly hitting the limiter. I was faster since I crossed at peak power.
