Default BS tire size's from M/T

im trying to find a actual 26" tire (or a little over). i know everybody stats there tire size, but my M/T radials are suppose to be 26" and they measure out at a little over 24.5 when on the car, and at 16psi. anybody else actually measure there tire size on the car with there psi and seen how close they where? i just want to make sure i order the right set, and not deal with the tire being 1.5" shorter then they say.

you cant take a measurement of the tire when its sitting still on the ground with a load on it. you wont get a true measurment. that goes for any tire. and it is impossible to measure while moving so its best to take the measurement without any load on it. trust me when that tire gets going its going to grow substantially.

maybe on a slick, but when i compare it to a gear calculator it comes out right. if i actually put in 26" on a 3.70 with a final gear of 1:1, i should be going through the traps at 6000. now when i put in 24.5 i would be at around 6500, and that it what i am actually at when i go through the traps.

exactly. mine is a stick and has always been damn near on the button when you do the math. give or take 2 mph. if its an auto you cant really use a gear calculator.

There is no way for tire size to take account for sidewall flex. There is a MPH that the actual size of the tire is as measured, where the tire is basically "stood up". I want to say it's at 55 or 60.

Are you in an auto car? What size radials did you buy? I know everyone says the 275's are 28's, but I believe on the MT site, they're only like 27.xx. So while stood up they measure 27, static with the weight of the car, they're probably only 26"

if you are concerned with the tire height for gear and trap speed/rpm issues, why do you care what the tire height is when its stopped? all slicks grow on the big end and once you "get up on the tire" the tire height changes dramamatically.

i am an auto. everybody has different info on the tires. you can have 3 different sizes for 275/40r17 (mt says 26", summit says the same tire is 25.7, another site says 25.4, ect). just easier and cheaper to figure it out with gearing rather then spending 400 for a set of tires.

because not all tires have the same tread depth. they will vary slightly. if your an auto you CANNOT use a gear calculator. it wont work. and ur going to be spending more then $400 swapping gears all the time.

this is for the same tire, unless m/t has 3 different thread depths for the same tire.

you can get a richmond gear set for 179 bucks. i can change them myself, and dont have to pay to mount them, and take them off if there wrong, plus they are easier to ship if they dont work.

Remember that every tire company doesn't have a set of parameters they HAVE to match on diameter, width, etc.
Also, size will also depend on the rim it is mounted on.
