Default what gear to run?

30" tire
3300 pounds.
automatic.

car has been 6.30's 1/8 mile in cool weather with a 4.33 gear.
i switched to a 5.00 gear setup i got a steal on in hopes of being quicker on the tree.
i run heads up index footbraking. my plan worked. i went from 40's-50's with the 4.33 gear down t0 .020 lights with the 5.00 gear. after some carb changing and chassis tweaking im anywhere between .003 RED and .003 green.

problem is it never picked up ET like i wanted it too. figured it was good for at least .07, maybe a tenth, but the car stalled out.

PAT G speced my cam for tons of power in the midrange.
you think im revving up the car too quick?
what are you guys running with fast setups?
i almost want to go back to a 4.33, but wonder if i should go to a 4.10 or maybe try a 4.56.
car made peak power at 7100 on the dyno, and i shift at 7300.

I would definitely try to go back to atleast the 4.33's in the rear. I think you are blowing thru the power curve in too many gears to be effective. Your reaction times will come with practice....I don't have much more power than you and also run nearly a 30" tire and I run 4.10's.

your extra inches help it get off the line.
the car has just never repeated, and now that i grenaded a center section, its time to buy stuff all over again.
fun stuff.

got a new carb and did some chassis work and the car is popping a wheelie going 1.36 short times.
i was on a stock nodular case. front pinion support ripped out of the case and threw bearings all into everything.
