Default IF you foot brake an A4

If you footbrake an A4 to say 1500 RPMs is there any other advantage of having a higher stall than say a 2800?

I mean other than leaving off the line in a say 22x/22x street car is there any other advantage of say a 3500-4000 stall?

the advantage of higher stall is to run quicker e.t. The LS motors make plenty torque up top, so a high stall bodes well with these motors.

yes, shift extension !!

when it does shift with a 2800 the rpms will drop back down to (just throwing a number out) say 5000 at full throttle, with a 3500 it may only drop back down to 5500

it's really nice to bring your rpms to 1500-1800 with a 3,200 converter and nail it..you will need tires and traction stuff.

Ahhh.

So the other advantage is that it doesnt drop the RPMs so low that you come out of the power band.

M6 guy here before a few months ago. I was reading everyone getting these 4000 stalls. I was just thinking 4000 stall + 10 bolt = WTDH? What The Damn Hell? Because most cars wont hook if you leave at 4000 even with tires on the street. Many here were praising it for running on the street.

But if I am understanding you the 4000 stall will shift at say 6000 and only drop to say 3800 or so so you are still in the powerband of the LS1 motor and dont have to climb back in it.

THANKS!!!!

With that being said I think 3.42 gears to save the rear end and a 3800 stall would be perfect for a 400RWHP car to have good street and track times.

If im still confused about please tell me.

6000 to 3800... You could do better than that with your grandma shifting your 6 speed.

Thats true... the M6 was a 10 second car. Spinning to 7000. The automatics are very new to me. I am as green as my last name. I was saying that the Stall keeps the RPMs higher than the stock stall between shifts.

Yes but can you confirm that the stall keeps you in the higher RPMs between shifts? Is that what makes it the cure for performance in the A4? or is it just that you can launch it at a higher RPM?

Yes it will. As said before the LS1 dont start making good power untill 3500 or So RPM(assuming a mosly stock motor) Mine is a 3600 stall and starts really pulling about 3800-4000. I have an Edge convertor in mine and I absolutly love it. you can see my sig for times and mods. I was on Mt DRs, sat on the tree @ 1100 and nailed it. Cut 1.62 60fts on stock suspension(exept for cheap lakewood LCAs)
Think about it like this. if your convertor hits at 3800, and you sit at 1000 RPM then go to WOT. Its kind of like Hooking your pickup truck to a load and leaving the chain loose to get a running shot.

Default VERY good picture painted from this.

SO is the ONLY advantage off the line performance? Which is fine I am just curious.

In a roll race is there any difference?
