Slowest LS-1 ever!
I had my 2000 Z28 at the track Firday night, drove it there and ran my first pass at 15.00 and a 2.199 60ft. I had alot higher expectations because i have never heard of an LS-1 running 15.0 even though it's stock with an SLP lid. any ideas on what's wrong? Maybe heat soak? and the day after i gutted the cats that had 120xxx miles on them.

no, it was shifting at 6000 in drive. it might have also been the rear end vibrating setting off the knock sensor and taking away from the timing. but it seemed at about 4500-5000 RPM it was hitting alot harder. i have a few ideas on what could be wrong but i was wondering it anyone had similar problems.

thats aweful! Unless your 3 miles above sea level and If your not throwing any obvious codes like O2 sensors and stuff. Check your spark plugs, at 120k miles you will need new ones if they are stock. Also take off your air intake check the filter and clean the MAF with a can of that MAF cleaner spray you get at autozone and look inside the intake while you have it off, is there lots of oil in it? clean it out, and look into a catch can, and change your PCV valve if it was really oily, and Run a can of seafoam through it. Last but not least Run good 92+ fuel when your racing at the track especially if its hot out and heat soaked.

yea, i am probably going to get new plugs monday and we ran it without a filter and cleaned off any oil that could have been on the MAF and it was throwing a code on the O2 but i just gutted the cats and it has O2 sims on it. and it was definitely heat soaked. So im just going to get a tune and rebuild the rear end and see what happens. thanks

Did you say you had a code for the O2?
Did you put the o2 simulators on the rear o2s or the front o2s?
Is one of your front o2 sensors bad?

well where are you located? what is your Density Altitude? next you need to do a full tune up! plugs, wires, change oil,pcv,O2 sensors and check into getting it tuned. all this will make a big diff. and what was your MPH on these passes?
