Default firewall plate after dash and hvac removal?

i need to cover the big hole in the firewall after removing all the heater stuff. i have a piece of aluminum sheet thats prolly about .030 thick. could i use this? or would it be too thin. thanks

thats sounds really thin,
theres a min thickness for alum and steel, check NHRA/IHRA stuff... I think its like .38 steel .50 alum??? But some bead rolls go a LONG way in a flat pannel like that.
And I know the halo style cage rules change if you have a large hole or changed the firewall alot, ther some size specs, But you have to run a dash bar if so.

thanks for the info. i was kinda wondering about the rules on the firewall. i've got got an s&w 8 point, so i dont have a halo or a dash bar. thanks

ya not 100% sure. I know there some ya/no rule on the dash bar neeeded for legal on a rule I heard the HAVC cover plate affects it they way you can interprete that. Not many know/inforce it I believe, its more for moving the motor set back and sectioning the firewall/ holes for airbox/charge pipes I think?
