Default Help me knock off 3 tenths this fall

I'm trying to set a PB this fall when the 50 degree weather rolls in. My best times so far was in 55 degree weather just as my car sits now minus the DA Shocks which were 11.85 at 117 with a 1.73 60ft. Since then I added the Strange DA shocks on all 4 corners and I went back to the track in 90 degree heat and ran a 11.89 at 116 and cut a 1.69 60ft. I feel that my 60 ft is heading in the right direction since I cut a better 60 in 30 degree hotter weather so I look for it to be in the low 1.6s in colder weather. With this being said what is a few things I can do before the colder weather hits to maybe get me in the 11.50 range. My car is a 3450lb cam only, full exhaust, full suspension, ftra, 6 speed with roughly 390 rwhp through a Moser 9 with 410s, running 26x10.5x16 Mt ET Streets, leaving at whatever I need to to get the job done.

My thoughts
1. Cut-Out
2. Race gas tune
3. Light weight battery up front
4. Light weight hood
5. 2 Step for more consistent launches
6. CNC p&p TB from a vendor (currently have a home version, not cnc)

Which of these would you try, what are maybe some more options. I have about $600 to spend and I don't want to go heads or n2o right now. Any help would be appreciated.

No race gas tune as you do not have the compression to take advantage + the general cost. A cutout is cheap so I would consider that. The hood can be about 400 and thats un painted. I wouldnt worry about the TB.

Put some skinnies on there and pull some weight where you can. I am not a fan of small batteries. Id take the carpet insulation off the back of the floor, take the AIR pump out, spare tire/jack, rear seats, washer fluid, Stereo Amp if you have it.

The only thing better I can say is ET Drags as they have less cords and have a better compound.

Thanks for the reply, what brand hood do you recommend? I want it to be a cowl of some sort.

VFN or Harwood is the ones I trust. I mayself have a US exotics ws.9 hood but Roger as of late is not around so I couldn't recommend him. The big thing is that you get the hood from a trusted source as sometimes local shops don't make them right and they end up weighing as much as a steel hood, if not more.

skinies up front are going to be a big help.

the launch control, I am not sure you need.

race gas, as said before is a waste of time and money

reducing weight will be your best bet. battery if a good start. maybe pull the front bumper support and sway bar if you have not done so.

Cut out is cheap, and a good idea.

TB as said before, also a waste of time.

If the car is a stick, .3 could be had in better driving as well so practice more.

You can get a cutout for under 30 bucks. Easy mod, and i have been told it "can" pick you up a tenth.. Removing front sway bar helped me grip more also.

you dont need anything new to pick up .3 in the 1/4.. your 60' is crappy for a stick car.... use your double adjustable shocks and rear sway bar to launch the car harder.... make sure you have a good clutch... that thing should 60' atleast a 1.55

Rear sway is stock so how can I use it to help launch the car? I gues I should have mentioned that is was stock, all other suspension parts are aftermarket, LCAs, Adj TA, Adj PHB, SFC, Strange DAs.

if you dont plan on making a trip to the track an every weekend habit put an air bag in the car... if you plan on running this think weekly put a good anti-roll bar under it. put a good stiff sidewall ET street under it... your 60' will get better with adjustments to launch rpm and shock adjustments....

Alright, so far we have...
1. Cut-out (ordered it yesterday)
2. Continue to put myself and the car on a diet
3. Driver mod and work on shock adjustments

Any other suggestions not listed, I really want to hit the 11.50s with stock heads. My plans for next year is to run 10.9s n/a with a heads upgrade. Thanks for your input!

Agreed, got to kill it in the 60 if I expect the big end to be where I want it. Looks like an anti-roll bar is in my near future then to scale the car to get the corner weights correct. I think the 1.5s would be a respectable 60ft at my hp level, my only problem is I'm still spinning just a little off the line. I guess it would be considered more of a haze of the tires, not a blow out in any way because the car is moving out good. I might go to a stiff wall 15inch slick also to get a little better bite. For now I'm going to push these 16inch ET Streets as far as they will go.

I'm with Ty_Ty. I went 11.23 with a 1.67 60'. Tuesday I went 10.90 with a 1.51 60'. No changes to the car. I have a 9" w-3.89's, M6, and Hoosier QTP's. And my clutch was slipping on the 10.90 pass too.

My car is usually good for .15 on the big end for every .10 I knock off in the 60. With better air and better driving plus my cut-out arrived today I think I can get in the 11.5s. If I don't it won't be from lack of trying.

Good times WS6 SRT-8, what type power are you making? What are you leaving at? What size QTPs are you running? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to gain some knowledge from people going fast.

It is all in the driver. I too am CAM ONLY and my car weighs 3500 lbs with me driving. I too have 26x10.5x16 M/T ET Streets.

My PB was 11.8 @ 119 with a 1.8 60' on STOCK suspension, stock 10 bolt with stock 3.42s (M6)

my car has lost the following for weight

VFN fiber glass WS6 hood
No Rear Bumper Support
No EGR
No AIR Pump
No Spare Tire/Jack

No problem. It feels strange seeing you post that I'm going fast. It made 562rwhp and 491rwtq. That pass, I left around 5800-5900. And the Ram Powergrip didn't like it either. It slipped on every shift. I'm using 26X11.50 Hoosier QTP's.

Thanks man, and oh yeah where I'm from if you have a 10 sec street car then you are going fast. I guess it's just like we all do, couldn't wait to hit 12s, then I just had to hit 11s, now I'm going for 10s next year etc.. It's an addiction!
