With the shock a 598 nitrous motor would have nothing is gonna survive that forever!

9 inch with 40 spline axles and a steel spool and pro gear, should be good to go. Just get a center section with the big pinion support and all that.

when you say no issues.... meaning no broken ring and pinions over the course of a whole racing season and a fresh 1 each winter?

.

My car is still using a 9". 6.50 @ 213 times many many pass'.
As mentioned, nothing lasts forever at these power levels.
I just replaced gears a couple of weeks ago. About 50 pass' and it was very worn out.
It still worked fine, but it was definitely ugly looking.
I thought about trying a 9.5" and I probably will make the change if I ever finish my blower engine.
Most of the guys still use 9", newer cars seem to be using 9.5" more & more.
The only way to know is look and judge the life cycle you are getting.

When we dabbled with a SuperStock/O Impala 283ci/jerico we ran a dana 60 and we'd get maybe 35 hits on it before it broke.

no issues means-no broken components for atleast a year.

we used to leave at 5600 with my twin turbo smallblock in my 10.5 car-several 1.14 60's at 3000+ lbs, over 500 passes on the same ring and pinion-in fact that ring and pinion has been in ther since 2001.plan on using the same rear behind my twin turbo 672bbc,if it breaks i will then go to a MW 11''.

There are circumstances that you need bigger-stick cars are much more abusive on rears,as well as big tire cars.If you rattle the tires alot you can break the rear as well.

hell Dave Hinzman has a bbc f3 drag radial car that run 7.30's or so and has a ford 8.8 in it.

thats exactically what i dont want... needs to get atleast 125 runs before it pops to be pretty durable to me. granted i probably wouldn't put that many runs on it in a season... but you never know...

I'm running a 9" with my BBC, but i don't have an off the shelf 9". I also have the best 9" center section MW sells, 40 spline and the big ball bearing pinion, with 3.40 pro gears. I really don't expect to have any issues but it doesn't hurt to over do it either. I also run a DR and forced inducted so i won't hit the tires as hard as you...

Steve Jackson still on a 8.8" rear with I'm sure 3000+ HP BBC F3R too...

we can set you up with a rear that should last a season on a sinlge gear. We have a lot of cars doing that. ~700 CI and 4 stages of spray and we can get a season out of a rear.
