Default Cutting below front windshield...

got the LT1 down to 2975lbs. tryin to get down some more. the sheetmetal that is directly under the front windshield that people cut out when runnin carbs where the plastic piece rests that covers the wipers.... can you remove it on a street driven vehicle. its not a DD but is mostly a street toy. there are no wipers so if it can go imma cut it out.

Yup. You sure can.

Take a look at my link to see a few photos of what I have hacked out.

Some have removed a lot more then I have.

Just be careful to not crack the windshield (speaking from experience). But then again I was going to replace it anyway, and I did use a reciprocating saw. If I had it to do again, I'd either use a torch or a cut-off wheel.

all the weight reduction possible for the most part other than drag brakes cause i drive the car mainly on the street. next will be tubular control arms, manual rack, and tubular k member.

no power steering, no a/c, no hvac at all, no back seats, door bars, bumper supports, extra metal brackets and tabs cut off, airbags, grant steering wheel, air bag brackets, abs delete and sjm install, seat belts removed and rci belts installed, carpet insulation, no frt sway bar or brackets, inner fender sheetmetal removed, now cowl sheetmetal removed, sure theres more, but just added a nitrous bottle and hardware today....

I would reccomend a metabo with a cutting wheel, a plasma cutter can build up a little to much heat if you want to trim it close to the windshield like I did, and that heat can crack the windshield. Cut it all out to the seam on the firewall, I did!
