This is cool. One of the locals was trying to fit a BBC into his Fbody, I'll pass this along to him.
Thanks for sharing.

haha. yea. if you use sch40 stuff and heavy on the glue they should hold up!
dont forget to use primer.... i know a guy that didnt use it and he had exhaust leaks.

im going to give them a shout monday. the only people i know that can weld at a quality thats acceptable arent interested in helping me make a set of headers.
im not an experienced welder or i would have already done it myself.
they are going to be as high as giraffe p---y im afraid.

If you go mild steel mat'l and coat them (for a race car anyway) you'll save alot of $

Stainless is expensive period... street car with water and the heat cycling that they put on a header stainless is a beter choice, same with turbo stuff.

But a coated mild steel header can be a viable option.

If I were to build a tall deck motor, I'd need headers made. But, then I could have them built as a 2 piece header (2 primaries together, then the other 2 together so they go in the car as pieces, making them alot easier to install, and gives you larger primary options then you's have as a 1 pc header) with a slip on collector.

I've never really looked into it though

id really like the stainless.
the headers i have on the car now are almost 6 years old and they still look brand new.
price wise, mild is a wallet saver.
this company does do mild steel.
im seriously calling them tomorrow for a guestimate.
my headers are sold so i have to do something now.

Don't get me wrong there's stainless kooks 1 7/8 stepped to 2 inch on my car, and other then the color change from heat, they look exactly like they were new.

But.... if I get to the point where I have no choice but to do something (due to deck height or whatever) I won't spend the $ on stainless again, I'll just do a mild steel set and have them coated, along with the entire exhaust system at that point.

just got off the phone with tom at stainless headers.
he said a std v8 long tube setup with merge collectors will run between 1300-1700 dollars.
i was quoted around 1400 for stainless steel.
there is a 500 dollar deposit for the kit they send you, which is refunded upon return.
he mentioned that some designs may cost more depending on the labor of welding involved.

I have the above. Make's life easy. The time and material saved, along with reducing scrap paid for the initial $400 on the first set of headers I used them to mock up.

That would be worth every dime. if you have custom shop, were they were installing different engine in different cars or ever mocking up roll cages
