What should I upgrade first...transmission or rear end?

What should I upgrade first...transmission or rear end?
I'm trying to go decently fast while staying stock internals for now. Eventually (sometime this year), I plan on being cam only. My current mods are a 3000 stall, full bolt ons, and some basic suspension mods. The car has about 75,000 miles...still on the stock transmission and rear. The transmission is the original transmission that came with the car, but the rear has maybe 40-50,000 miles on it (upgraded to a rear out of a 6 speed). I'm going to be going with a bigger stall soon, which kind of worries me. I'm running ET Streets and was doing decent was the smaller stall (high 1.6 60's to low 1.7's). With the bigger stall should I be more worried about the rear end or transmission going first? I know both need to be upgraded by the time the cam goes in, but that won't be for a while. Thanks for the help.

Both need to be done, but if you absolutely can't do them both at the same time then I would say transmission first, simply because a working transmission is far more valuable than a working 10-bolt rear. You can use the money from the sale of your stock tranny to get you started on your rear end whereas selling a 10-bolt won't bring hardly any money. Plus, if you blow the 10-bolt it's only maybe $100 to replace it.

toss a coin. that's my .02
I did my transmission first b/c that happened to be what went first.
With talking to the folks that sell rear ends. They'll tell you the first thing to go on a 10 bolt is the posi unit. Not much to worry about there.
If you do the transmission, do 1350 U Joints with a 1350 yoke on the 10bolt and a good driveshaft.

Since you have an auto build that first. I went through 3 transmissions and finally the rear broke. You can replace the rear with a stock if your are low on funds at any time. However if you put a 9" in and the tranny goes better have a couple grand laying for that. I vote tranny then save up for rearend.
