Default 85 mph 1/8th...doesn't make sense

On my last pass this year, I ran a new best. 12.96 @ 111.1. What's puzzling is the slow 1/8th mph. 85.8. Everyone I've seen running 111 usually runs 87-88 mph. My 60' on that pass was 2.00. What's even more curious is that on my 2 previous passes, both in the 13.teens, the mph was also 85 but only at 108 and 109 mph. The short times on those passes were 2.05 and 2.13 respectively. Can someone explain this phenomenon? Mods are in the sig.

The 4L60E transmissions have large gap between second and third gears at the 1/8th mile you are at a weak spot in the powerband and getting hard accelaration both before and after that point.

I think we're getting a little crossed up here. The car I'm talking about is the '99 6spd.

are you shifting the same every time? it sounds to me that 1 you are spinning still and 2 your shift points might not be the same every time....

I do try to shift as consistently as possible but, as you probably know, the factory tachs just aren't very accurate. Since I am running street tires, the car does spin when going into 2nd, and on occasion into 3rd.
